Ask a local mechanic to have a look as these newer cars are to complicated for father to have a look at they are not like a good old ford cortina ,then post for confirmation as to the diagnosis if it sounds a bit expensive to repair ,without my head under the bonnet i honestly couldnt tell you whats wrong

1998 nissan quest service engine light will flash three times and then just stay on while im driving

run the fault codes to find the sensor that is putting the light on and replace/repair the faulty unit. It is simply very false economy to run tanks empty as the fuel pumps need fuel to lubricate the gears and if that is intermittent of not there that plastic gears fail and pumps are not cheap.

Just replaced timing chain and gears noiw wont stay running

I would guess you have to go back over your work
with regards to the timing chain & cam gear settings
If your at a professional shop, they can look at various data,
to get an idea if timing is an issue since that work was just
done

The car wont stay running when in the run possion

OK lets start with this..

I am guessing that when you say possion you are meaning you gear selector and when you put it in say drive.

If that is the case.....

Your problem is most likely the fuel pump relay or fuel pump itself.
Start with checking, or have it checked, the fuel pressure at the fuel rail.

If the pressure is low then a fuel pump can be suspect. There are then other test which have to be performed to see where the exact problem is.

1988 4runner wont stay in first gear

Transmission is getting old and will start to do this more and more often. Live with it or have your transmission rebuilt. Personally, I would live with it as long as I could. 1st gear isn't bad. If it was 3rd, 4th, or 5th it would be really annoying. Just take it easy on the old transmission and don't slam gears and it could last that way for a lot longer.

My 93 ford probe gt wont idle and wont shift outa 2nd gear

Sounds like you need to check your vaccum lines for a leak. This is easy to do. Buy a can on carburator cleaner and with a friends help keep the car running as you spray your vaccum lines with the carburator cleaner one by one. If you have a leak it will **** the cleaner into the lines and cause the vehicle to stall out. Replace the line if this happens and continue checking all lines until all bad lines are replaced.

Wont stay running when in gear

When the air filter is replaced, sometimes the tube between the air filter and the air intake manifold gets torn. If you have an air leak on the tube, it will cause al kinds of jumping and stalling issues. If a tear or hole is noticed, just put some tape over it for a quick check. If that works, replace the tube. Paul

BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON ENGINE RUNNING BUT CAR WONT DRIVE

there is a button on your brake pedal lever that while braking gets depressed, and turns on your brake lights. Now this component is a plastic piece that can get knocked loose rather simply. You either need to re-secure this component, or replace it

(you can get this part at any junk yard for nothing more than some pocket change)
