If you ran out of gas then you have damaged the pump, so the fuse is not the issue the pump is, the reason? The electric fuel pump runs in gas inside the gas tank for cooling and for lubrication, when you run it dry it overheats and also damages the rotor bearings.

Sat for 3 years running when we stopped driving now it wont restart. chkd fuses, relays, b

Fuel is probably stale. Pump or pump relay might be stuck.

I suggest you check the fuel delivery to the fuel rail. If no delivery the pump isn't working and the supply should be checked and then take the appropriate action depending whether the supply is good or not.

I have a 98 oldsmobile 88 and i ran out of gas so i went and got an emergency gas can and it was from a relative of mine there was 2 of them mixed a lil bit of one into the other tank and apparently one of...

fill the tank with new fuel,, and add a can of heet, or other water removing chemical, ( at any parts store) you may have to do this with each fill up for a while depending on how much water was put into the tank,, if you believe it was a gallon or more, this would be a long process, if thats the case, you can either run the fuel out, by attaching a length of hose to the fuel supply hose to the motor, and turning the key to the "on " position,, letting the pump remove the fuel, or drop the tank, remove the pump from the tank, and turning it over,

My 1989 buick park avenue keeps dying. a friend ran a test on it and it said the fuel pump was the problem, but the fuel pump fuse keeps bowing too... Would this be a short somewhere or the fuel pump...

My first thought is that you have wires shorting out somewhere, probably right above the gas tank. Either way, you're going to have to pull the gas tank off to find it. Usually, when a fuel pump dies, it just doesn't work, and won't normally blow a fuse. Pull the tank down, inspect the wiring, and change the fuel pump if the wires check out okay.

I have a 1999 sunfire with about 50,000 miles the gas gage goes crazy when the gas gets low are they known for this its a manual transmission?

This is a great car but I has a few crazy lil things that are a pain. The sending unit in the gas tank needs to be replaced there is a polarity issue with it. Here's the kicker the fuel pump and fuel gauge sending unit are made as one piece so you must replace both. see http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/DPH0/FG0115.oap?year=1999&make=Pontiac&model=Sunfire&vi=1357174&partType=C0401&parentPartType=C0025

Resently ran out of gas now cars running bad / 93 caprice

Change the fuel filter again and if you have fuel injectors, you need to get them sleaned....I believe some of those oil one stop service places will do it. If you have a carb, you need to blow it out....but change that filter....maybe even a few more times if you had that stuff come out the first time.

Ran out of gas now will not start

There should be a fuse for the fuel pump check this first. If fuse is good you will probably need a pump. The fuel pump is cooled by being in the fuel. When ran low or out of fuel the pump gets hot and will blow a fuse or overheat and quit.

Jeep won;t start..new fuel pump installed

try the fuel filter and make sure you have proper oil pressure!! Remeber if you have tried craking to many bad times then the plugs are going to be fouled out!! Means that they are going to be drowned with gas and need replacing!! Also make sure your fuel pump is coming on!! You should hear a hissin or a hummin noise back from the fuel tank!

if you ran out of fuel it may have blown the fuel pump fuse. put gas in tank. replace fuel pump fuse and cycle the key on but not to the start position, you should hear a buzzing noise which is your fuel pump when the buzzing stops turn ignition off and do it again. repeat a bout 5-10 times and it should start after that.
