Fan makes metalic noise when i open the air
Bearing have gone and extra draught is pushing it to one side a bit hence the noise unless you have a leaf up the pipe above the fan that i had before now ,but the recirculate was quite so yes i have had this before

Sounds like the fan is going out. Perhaps something got dropped down a vent and hitting the blades and maybe even jamming them from time to time. Paper, cigarrette, nut, bolt? Take the fan out hook the wires, red, black to battery power and see how it operates. Sometimes the bearing in the back drys up and a little spray lubricant does wonders.

I WENT TO THE VW DEALER...HAPPENED TO PASS BY. THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED WHICH WAS FLUTTERING SOUND FROM THE AIR CONDITIONING FAN.
IT WAS COMING, I WAS TOLD, FROM THE MECHANISM THAT ADJUST THE TEMPERATURE, AND NOT THE FAN

EF & EL are 1,5,3,6,2,4
EF has a coil pack under the inlet manifold the EL has a distributor
EF uses a waste spark system so 2 plugs are fired at the same time eg 1 & 6 - 2 & 5 - 3 & 4

I think the word carburetor and ford falcon was mentioned which used a mechanical fuel supplied system. check for a cracked fuel supply line from the fuel tank to the steel body supply line.
