Question about 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette
Afew days ago the windows worked okay and then nothing, I have change both switches and the drivers side motor. It appears all mechicial parts are moving free. When the doors are shut we get a light on the dash to go on and when trying to use the drivers master switch and for the right side it will light up interior lights. when we try to use the passenger switch nothing happens. Here is the really strange part to us when one door is open nothing happens.when both doors are open both windows function properly. We have tried the doors and different ways thinking it may be a short in the door; nothing is ovious.
You likely have a broken wire inside the insulator in the harness that runs through the rubber boot from the body to the door, that is about all this could be, I have had the exact same problem.

Testimonial: "Thanks Dennis; I found a broken wire inside the insulator in the harness that runs through the rubber boot from the body to the door on the drivers side; splice it together with a butt connector and all is good again with this issue. Thanks agian for the solution I had already spent al ot of time trying other things, Thanks again Michael del Campo"

Under the bottom of the radiator on the there is a drain ****, you will have to raise the car and crawl under it to see it, be careful to not break it, the screw in plug is fragile, it will be hard to unscrew.

The first thing i would check is all 4 abs sensors at the wheels. You can do this with a volt meter set on ac voltage and spin the wheel if it generates voltage at all on the meter its good.

could it be the contacts on the switch are burned ?
place a voltage reader to see if there is power going to it
I bet the switch is gone

you'll need to remove your door panel (screws are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door) and remove the cover adjacent to your mirror to remove the bolts to remove the mirror.
