Two things I would be curious about. One is what the coolant temp sensor is reading. You will need a scan tool capable of diplaying data in order to check this. If the coolant temp sensor is bad and the PCM is defaulting to -35 degrees Fahrenheit it will cause the engine to flood. The other thing I would like to check is compression. If there is low compression it can cause this symptom. Let me know what you find with those. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using!

SOURCE: How do u put a 1994 Pontiac Grand Am 4silnder in

Thanks for choosing FixYa Matt and welcome. The only way this is possible is if you change out the transmission and the engine compartment is the same. Everything has to hook up correctly. In order to do so, you would have a lot of modications that would run you at a high cost. It is possible, but a lot of work. Plus, you would have to get a transmission for the four cylinder. It won't fit a six cylinder. In order to make it work, you would need someone qualified. It isn't worth it considering the cost.

My 1994 Pontiac Grand AM is bucking during acceleration. Any ideas what might be causing this?

Perhaps a misfire....Spark plugs, plug wires, clogged fuel filter...just a few places to start checking. Bad fuel injector possible.

1994 grand prix 3.1 new fuel filter, plenty of gas, runs fine, every once in a while it tries to flood itself out, hold it to the floor and it smoothes out, owned for a year and only done it twice, tried...

check to see if you have a faulty fuel pump relay. Mine would work then not work.It boggled 3 different meachanics,.the place I traded it in at told me that was the problem,.it's relativly a cheap part depending on vehicle
