1990 Miata low beams work, high beams only work when switch is held down

I just bought a 1990 Miata and I am having trouble with the lights. The high beams only come on when I hold the lever forward, and the reverse lights never shut off. If the key is turned on, the lights are on.

SOURCE: 1992 Mazda PU no highbeams

It could be both lamps are burnt out.try replacing the lamps. Or checking the voltage at the lamp plugs. If the plugs have current with the light switch on. Then the lamps are bad.

SOURCE: 1990 Mazda Media high beam lights dont work

That is going to be a bad multi-function switch, which is the actual signal switch and highbeam switch. Is not too hard to replace if you have basic hand tools and some ambition.

One of my turn signals wont work, both my headlights only work on highbeams

replace the high beam switch which causes this problem. Also clean the terminals for the directional light bulb. That will cause a negative continuity to the bulb

I have a 1990 audi quattro V8, both low lights went out.. Marker lights and high beams both work

I would check the low beam fuses. Also maybe a bad dimmer switch. Check to see if you have power at the low beam headlight plug.

It sounds like you have a contact problem in the column switch or the high beam relay.

How do you adjust the headlights on a 2002 Mazda Miata?

The adjustment screws/nuts should be located either on the top of the headlamp assembly, behind the headlamp assembly, or near the frame rail by the radiator support.

You will have vertical adjustment screws for each independent beam (separate highs and separate lows, but will be same screw if highs and lows are the same bulb). You may also have additional horizontal adjustment screws as well

Park your car on a level ground 30 feet from a wall and measure the height from the ground to the bulb and mark on a wall (do this for highs beams and low beams if the bulbs are separate, if highs and lows are the same bulb, only do it for the lows)

For Low Beams: If the headlights read VOR, then aim the brightest part or cutoff part just below the mark on the wall. If it says VOL or nothing, aim them 2 inches below the mark on the wall.

For High Beams (if separate from low beams): Aim the headlight directly at the line you marked on the wall.

Head lights on 1990 jeep wrangle won't work

Ckeck the headlight connections they are notorious for corroding. Check the ground connection for the lights. Pull your dimmer switch back as if you were flashing a car to pass and see if they work there. If they do you have a dimmer switch problem.
