2006 kia rio 5 ac/heater not blowing

My son's Kia AC/Heat controls stopped working. We have checked a couple of the fuses but are not sure which one actually controls this. none of the fuses we have checked so far have been out. does someone have any information on what the problem could be?

I am still unsure what the problem is. All I can tell is that the AC and heat control does not respond when turned on.

Since you have a functioning relay, all heaters or coolers in automobiles are fitted with overload resistor coil for conventional circuit and a thermistor , somewhere around the evaporator(radiator) and fan motor, resistor coil burn out or thermistor ageing to high impedance will result in fan motor malfunction.

This is the same information that us Kia techs use to diagnose vehicles. Lots of useful information. For your particular vehicle, lookup a 2003 for the timing belt information. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

SOURCE: 2006 kia rio check engine light on and code P0455

A code p0455 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:

  • A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
  • A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
  • Other leak or damaged piece in EVAP system

With a p0455, the most common repair is to:
  • Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
  • Otherwise, replace the gas cap, and/or
  • Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses (you may hear a vacuum noise or smell fuel), repair if necessary

2003 kia rio burns out rad fan fuse when turned on

Try unplugging the air conditioner compressor under the hood. There should be a plug near to its pulley. With the compressor unplugged, try turning the fan switch to AC again & see if it still blows the fuse. If it does, there's a problem somewhere in the wiring between the switch and the compressor. If not, the problem is in the compressor's pulley clutch.

Check the fuses and relays for heater and AC. If good , a fusible link wire could have burned out.
