Question about 2000 Ford Contour
When i accelerate from a stop the transmission jumps
I first suggest to check fluid levels and maintenance time. Sound like a torque converter or valve body solenoids problem.
Also scanned the transmission module, to search codes in order to know exactly this "check engine" code.
Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

It could be a spark plug, plug wire, or a coil. Sometimes thay break down intermittently. If it needs a tuneup, that would be the first thing to do.

One easy thing to try is injector cleaner. Get Techron. Also if you can get the codes read people on this site can help with more info.
Other things that it could be are the cam position sensor, plug wires, the Ignition control module or perhaps a bad vacuum line. Check any that are between the air intake and fuel rails.
The codes will help to diagnose. Most auto parts stores will read them for free and reset the code collector so you can get a fresh start. If the problem persist the codes will reappear.
