1995 ford tauras is sticking in 3rd gear, ck engine light comes on after it has been driven and warmed up engine is not hot.

Get someone to run an OBD-II diagnostic on the engine. Most chain part stores will do it for free.

Possible idle speed control sticking.

is your ck engine light coming on, if not ck for fuel pressure when not starting, possibly fuel pump problem if you have no check engine light on

if the shifter wont move with brake pedal pushed ck , shift interlock,brake pedal switch,and key interlock. if the shifter moves and trans does nothing ck cable underhood at trans for operation if working yes you have trans problem . ck fluid to see level or if burnt fluid will smell real bad if low trans wont work right.and a trans can fail with out setting any engine or trans codes.so ck engine light wont come on. there is some times a release by the shifter a small cover you pull off and stick a key or small screw driver in slot and shifter will move.

Some cars came with this light to help the driver know when to shift to the next gear. IE: 1st, 2nd, 3rd and so on. It will not indicate when to downshift to a lower gear. It's main function was for optimal mileage and proper RPM shifting. Happy driving.

just because the light is back on, doent mean its the same thing. thats a lot of money spent on just those problems. (WAY TOO MUCH) Take it back and have them ck it again, or find a shop that knows what they are doing.

thats pretty serious.....what makes you think that? what is the oil pressure at idle, at 2000 rpm, hot, cold. did you ck the oil level? the engine should be knocking unless you turned the engine off right away when the oil light came on, the oil pump is driven by the cam gear and the oil pump drive shaft. you can see the top of the driveshaft on the drivers side of the engine there where a distributor would be.

I would have to say your engine is probably shot. The bearings are probably gone. It is possible, i suppose, that your oil pump is faulty. As soon as the oil warms up, and becomes thin, the rods and lifters start to rattle. The same goes for the oil pump, as oil becomes hot, and thin, it may not be pumping properly. I would try a used oil pump, and see if there is any difference before i wrote the engine off.

This is a common problem. You have a cracked forward clutch piston. Ford made this part out of aluminum. The replacements are steel. But you have to disassemble the transmission to install it. ( I know you said Rev too, In the AXODE trans, the forward clutch is on in 1st and reverse)
