SOURCE: 02 kia fail smog high nox

if the engine computer says that you have a slow O2 sensor what it means is that the sensor does not react as quickly as it should and it needs to be replaced. nox is oxides of nitrogen, a product of too lean combustion which causes cylinder temps to go too high. it sounds like replacing O2 sensor will make it happy. engine computer is having a hard time controlling lean/ rich fuel mix because sensor is slow to register changes, needs to have response time in milliseconds or engine computer can't operate properly. O2 sensors do wear out, normal service item. hope that helps

SOURCE: Does the 2001 Kia Sportage have a fuel sending module?

Take it back and DEMAND that they restore your car to the previous fuel mileage....NO CHARGE! If they balk take them to small claims (it's cheap and you'll win) because they are trying to sell you a "pig in a polke"! I'm a retired Journeyman mechanic....and what they are telling you is the biggest sack 'o you 'no what.....Iever heard. Good luck to you.

SOURCE: i have 05 kia rio and its idling ruff and code is

How many miles, and have you had the fuel filter changed at all?

It could also be an O2 sensor. Try removing them. Tip should be a gray/tan color. If its green you have a blown head gasket.

My 2003 kia sedona won't pass emissions the codes are p0320 p0431. Help please

code p 0320 refers to crankshaft position(CKP) sensor /engine speed ( RPM) sensor ---circuit malfunction===causes --wiring---CKP/RPM sensor---ECM
code p 04310 refers to warm up catalytic converter, bank 2--efficiency below threshold===causes ---cat converter---wiring---HO2S 2
As it is not passing the smog test I would be replacing the HO2S sensor ( manifold or before the cat on bank 2 of the engine ) or more likely a failed cat converter
you may have had the P 0320 code for a long time and have not noticed a drop in performance but as cat converters have a lot to do with smog control , that is the area I would advise checking first

What causes too much co in youre exhuast

If you have a fuel sensor check that out. Could need replacing. Also when was the last time you changed the air cleaner filter. A dirty air filter will cause that as well as it can't breath properly. Just some ideas.

Code p0038 wont go away and i have replaced the 02 sensors twice on my 2006 kia sportage

Code 038 means the computer is getting a high voltage return in the heater circuit from the O2 sensor mounted after the catalytic converter. The O2 sensors have an internal heater to make them work as soon as you start the engine.
You would need to test the circuit to and from the sensor to find the real problem.

Trying to get ready to smog ,already changed thermostat what would cause it to run too cool?Mechanic states that there is not enough heat to burn gas efficiently causing a plugged cat converter. What can I...

everyone in americia is searchin for a way to ride cooler
and here your looking for a way to run hotter
thats a first

what does your "mechanic" say was the fault codes in memory
after properly wiping memory for a fresh start
and a short drive ?

I thought it was only gm products that required a map sensor cal

but maybe kia does too

map= Manifold Absolute Pressure this little box measures the pressure in your
manifold the place where the air goes into cylinders when not properly calibrated
or malfunctioning
they lie to the eec and it adds too much fuel and richen up the gas the injectors shoot into cylinders
and drive down cylinder temps and you fail the smog test too much Hydrocarbons (gas)
but usually the O2 sensor in tailpipe will counter this I wonder why not in this case ?

Our 1999 Kia Sportage will stall when you are coming to a stop.

Try replacing the sensor at the outake manifold. it looks like an O2 sensor. It detects gases that are coming out of the catalytic converter. it is sometimes mounted on the pipe or the back side of the catalytic.

Oxygen sensor

There are 2 sensor's..one near the exhust manifold and the other after the cat converter. You need to know which one is bad first.
