O.k... the first thing i want you to do is remove the distribitor cap... have some one turn the car over... don't get too close to the cap... you might regret it... well... let's just say, "it'll be a shocking experance... o.k. the coils can put out as much as 3,000 volts... and you don't want to be at the end of that one... i promise you. now... do you see the rotor turning? no... go have the timing belt changed then. if you do... that's a good sign... now we have to determine if there's a spark or not... what i'm about to tell you is very dangerous... and if you don't feel up to it i understand... but... if you follow what i tell you... to the letter... you'll be o.k., i want you to get an old spark plug... it can be one out of a lawn mower... weed eater... and the like... that's fine... it'll work for what we want to accomplish, i want you to take off the center wire of the cap... but leave the side that's connected to the coil on, now... take the spark plug... and place it in the coil wire... and use some electrical tape to hold it in... with me... now... grab the very top of the wire where it enters the boot... and hold it 1/2 above something connected to the chassis... it can be part of the engine block... master cylinder... booster... what ever... but it has to be metal... and it has to be a part of the chassis, now... have some one turn the engine over for 2 seconds... watching closely for a spark. did you see a spark? no... then you have a bad coil. o.k... so we have a spark... and the rotor is turning... o.k... that just leaves the fuel... or a fuse... check all the fuses... both inside and out... replace any that are burned out... put the cap back on... put the coil wire back on... and try out. did it start... yes... i'm happy to hear it... no... o.k... that means only one thing... no fuel... or a bad fuel pump, check the fuel gage. is it more than 1/4 of a tank? yes... o.k... then you have a bad fuel pump... now that we have the problem solved... there's just a little bad news... 1. the fuel pump is going to be in the gas tank... so you'll have to drop the tank just to change it... and 2... some fuel pumps can be very pricey... my uncle told me he had a car come in the other day... and the fuel pump was like $900, my cousin's was $308... the cheapest... the most expensive was $458... just be ready to spend some money... i don't want you to be surprised by the price of the pump... and oh... by the way... there are no lifetime fuel pumps anymore... only 1 year... after that... you're stuck man... any way... good luck to you... hope this helps you get some place... o.k.

Chances are its something electrical, but thats a big list.
You'll have to rule out a few things and check for spark and fuel pressure when it won't start.

I would start with the Fuel Pump Relay. Check the Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter and Belt Tension.

My car sometimes wont start and when it does it cuts out and dies

Put a voltmeter on battery. It should say something like 12 volts. Start motor and see if you have about 14.5 volts while running. If not your charging system has failed.
