When i start my car (2004 nissan maxima) and put it in drive as i press the gas it feels as if it where on neutral, but it only happens sometimes what is wrong?

Check the transmission fluid level using the dipstick located under the hood and near the front of the transmission. The car should be at operating temperature, running and in nuetral. If the level is low ask the auto part store to sell you the correct type of fluid. It does matter.

97 maxima clutch is not engaging, car has had a transmission leak and i wonder if the fluid is low again, would this cause the clutch to lose pressure and not engage? i do not see a red dipstick to even...

hi.

fluid level would be the first thing to check.

not all cars have a dipstick on the transmission. some have a drain plug at the bottom of the transmission, and a fill/level plug about halfway up the side of the unit. you just take out the level plug and put fluid in until it starts to come back out of the hole.

if you are not sure, an auto specialist should check this for you very quickly, and a lot of them would not even charge just to check the level if it does not need any fluid.

2001 nissan max transmission not changing properly it only shifts once, also fluid has never been changed could this be the problem or something else

I would recommend a fluid and filter change for your transmission, and make sure that you use the recommended Nissan Type Transmission Fluid so that you do not damage the transmission. If that is not the issue, then have the shift solenoid's checked as they will cause this to happen as well. The fluid and filter change is the least expensive of the two and that is more than likely what the issue is.

The dipstick is where you fill it =) (lol) use a funnel too, otherwise you will stain your garage floor.
