On the passenger side (right side) just behind the engine mount. It bolts up to the transmission bell housing at the right rear of the engine block.

Testimonial: "Thank you! The auto parts stores were saying there is two solenoids, there is on earlier models and I've searched for the second and it doesn't exist. So I pulled the starter & installing a new. Thanks to you! Bradley "

First and foremost you must disconnect, and isolate the battery negative cable! Then it would be best if the vehicle is raised and supported with jack stands. On the passenger side, rear of the engine block you will see the starter. There are three bolts that secure it in place, one of them may be hard to see. There are two electric connections on the starter solenoid, a large battery cable, and a smaller wire. they are attached with nuts on the solenoid studs. It is easier to remove the starter first, then the wires.

It would be a good idea to just remove the battery and put it on charge while you replace the starter... Just to make sure it is in top form.

SOURCE: Location of Speed Sensor 1998 Ford Explorer XLT

If it has RWAL only, the sensor is in the rear end. If it is ABS brakes, there are speed sensors on the front wheels as well. If there is in fact a speed sensor in the tranny, it is most likely internal.

SOURCE: I need to change the oil pump in my *97 ford explorer

WELL THIS CAN BE QUITE A JOB. FIRST OF ALL DISCONNECT BATTERY. YOU CAN EITHER REMOVE FRONT DRIVELINE AND DIFFERENTIAL WITH HALFSHAFT,STEERING RACK AND COOLER IN FRONT OF RACK AND DISCONNECT BATTERY CABLE BRACKETS OFF FRONT OF ENGINE,DRAIN OIL AND MOVESTARTER OUT OF WAY AS WELL AS LOOSEN EXHAUST FROM BINDING UP. RAISE ENGINE UP OFF ENGINE MOUNTS. LOOSEN PAN DOWN AND REMOVE PUMP AND LET IF FALL IN PAN,WATCH OUT FOR PUMPSHAFT FALLING DOWN. REVERSE OPERATION AND MAKE SURE YOU PUMP IS LINED BACK UP WITH THE DRIVE OR NO OILPRESSURE. IT WILL BE TIGHT GUARANTEED. I THINK I AM MISSING A FEW THINGS HMM. THIS IS THE BASICS,NOT A CAKE JOB,ESPECIALLY ON THE GROUND.

SOURCE: How do you replace the starter in a 98 ford

Two bolts come out from the front and one from the rear. It is not necessary to disconnect the battery because the solenoid is way up on the fenderwell of the passenger side. P.S. you might want to check that too.

I have a 2004 ford explorer xlt v6 4.0l gas. need a o2 sensor diagram. I need names and description. for example bank 1 sensor 2 after catalytic converter

https://www.google.com/search?q=1998+BMW+318i+Automatic+Torque+settings+Head+gasket&biw=1360&bih=650&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwie8o3ix8_QAhUJRSYKHdIXBrkQsAQIKQ#tbm=isch&q=2004+ford+explorer+xlt+v6+engine+firing+order

Hope this helps

Bank two are the even cylinders. Follow exhaust manifold on the side. You will find an O2 sensor just after or on the manifold, before the catalytic converter. Then, look after the catalytic and you should find another O2 sensor, this is the one you mention in your post.

What would cause transmission to shudder first thing in the morning when you start the engine and put it in reverse on a 2004 ford explorer v8 4.6

If car has high miles, trans wear could cause this. I would try removing 1 quart of new fluid and replace with Lucas trans additive.

Ford explorer has a miss fire 4.6 v8 engine light flashing

Do a tune up. Spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor. It should fix it. If not then you may new a new ignition coil or module. But the basic tune up is a easy solution if its been awhile since its been done.

1998 ford explorer/ need location to remove and

If your going to be removing all of this I recommend you get the Haynes repair manual on the vehicle so you have the illustrations and directions for dis-assembly and assembly of the starter. The starter should be located on the bottom right of the engine where the Transmission attaches.
