Question about 2004 Dodge Durango
Three days ago I noticed the display had gone blank on my stereo (AM/FM 6 disc changer - factory installed unit) and the controls were all inoperative but the radio continued to play. After driving like this for about 15 minutes and shutting the vehicle down for another 10, everything went back to normal until this evening. I started the vehicle and again the display was blank, controls inoperative and this time the radio was off (it had been on when I previously shut down the vehicle this morning). Again I got home, parked for 20 minutes, got back in and everything works again. Any ideas?????
I have had this problem intermittently since I purchased the vehicle in 2004... the dealer could not fix but showed me that there is a relay that you can pull and re-install. It's under the hood and must be done with the ignition and lights off. Pull the relay, wait 10 secs and re-install and pblm goes away. If you are standing in front of the vehicle there is a relay box on your right/vehicle left. The relay is located in the lower left-had corner of this box. Not a permanent fix, and in my experience the problem goes away when the vehicle is parked for an hour or so but if you have a long drive and want to use the radio, this 60-second fix is worth knowing...
