I have a 93 mustang with a2.3 (a4ld)****** as far as i know.i need to know what years of cars came out with that same ******.like 88?,92?93? what cars hav the 3 wire how can i make the4 wire work for the car wont go into any gear,like its stuck in nuteral all the time,tries to go into revers a lil but barly moves. so any one hav an answer??

SOURCE: 2000 ford taurus- wont shift into gear

first check drive axels , since you replaced front springs on struts i assume. it is possible that one of the axels popped out. next if thats ok check fluid level in trans with eng OFF should show over full make a srcribe mark on the stick. then START the eng it should go down to full or just below depends if trans is full or a little low . if level does not drop approx.1/2 in or so then have a transmission shop check for bad splines in torque convertor, that is a comon problem in that car, year and milage do not play a roll a large roll in parts failure in trans any more. not like it use-to.

I think your brake shift interlock solenoid is not releasing the Park position when you apply the brake.

Check for a blown fuse first. see owner manual for location of fuse.

Also, check owner manual for how to manually bypass the interlock.

When you step on the brake pedal, it activates a solenoid that unlocks the shift linkage cable so it will move. It is a safety feature to ensure you have you foot on the brake and not the gas, as you shift out of park.

SOURCE: my car turns on but it wont shift into any gear

dear friend-your blinker light has nothing to do with your gearbox problem,i surgest you have a look at the hazard switch.regarding you gearbox problem i think we must start at the gear lever.make sure that when you press the button on the shift that it does dis-engage,then while having the shift in hand move the car forward and back wards,try to dis-engage,if not you will have to remove the sump and look at the meganism inside,it has a half moon operating the shaft that is connected to the lock meganism.

take the air intake off the injection and drive to see if that makes any difference if does then you know where the problem lies , if not then will need further investigation

The unit it's self-- yes

I don't remember how much in the
way their was on the electronics

The valve body maybe different
& the torque converter for sure
if a different motor

1993 A4LD oil leak

My 93' Stang has the same problem. Well you got a few things there, most likely the front pump seal. That seal connects your torque converter to the trans and allows fluid to flow through it if that gets worn it may leak, but it will usally do this if the engine is running or when it gets put under a heavier load (ie: Driving up a hill) it may still leak if the engine has just been shut off. could also be torque converter or flexplate im still working on that soloution.

I have a 93 ford mustang sometimes when it shifts from 2nd into drive it reves an extra 500 rpms becors it shifts into drive. i chamged the tranny fluid and filter, and vacume assist on the side of the...

I also have a '93 with a 2.3. I added Lucas transmission treatment (about 12 dollars) 2 years ago and it's still fine. However, it sounds like one of the clutches is worn.

I don't know where the vacuum lines run to on my 93 mustang

normally, there is a diagram of the vaccuum lines on the underside of the hood for the emission controls. look there.

Wont shift to over drive

The reason it won't shift is because that plug isn't plugged in. It goes to the overdrive solenoid and the lock-up converter solenoid. I can likely tell you how to adapt it to make it work. What year is the transmission and what did it come out of? I know they are both A4LD transmissions but I can remember what year Ford changed the A4LD from the two wire connector to the three wire.

Will not shift into overdrive. 1987 ford mustang gt with AODE transmission.

Some possible causes for the A4LD transmission are:

1. Case connector and/or harness not seated.
2. 3-4 shift solenoid (3-4 solenoid wire pin 52 should read
approx 20 ohms)
3. Powertrain Control Module
4. Vacuum line disconnected from MAP sensor.
5. Map sensor
6. Throttle position sensor
7. Vehicle speed sensor

You may want to check to see if you have any codes as it will let you know if one of the sensors are at fault. Hope this helps, good luck.

My 93 mustang gt 5.0 sounds like a lawn mower

fuel filter, Dirty throttle body, or it probably needs a good tune up, If you clean the throttle body, use the right spray.Do that before you change the plugs
