Question about 1999 Ford Windstar

I was driving and all of a sudden as i was attempting to accelerate the vehicle just revved up but did not pull anymore and drifted to a stop and it did not respond to reverse or any gear for that matter i had it towed and dont know if its a torque converter or transmission failure what is it

Good old windstar, this is hard to say without checking it but the first thing is to make sure the ****** fluid is full, if the fluid is full then the next step would be to remove the ****** and check it out.

My truck died

first , have the fault codes read as that will give you an indication of the problem area
taking that it is automatic, the engine revving before stopping indicates that the torque converter clutch servo/solenoid has failed
that could be from TCM or wiring problems
stopping the engine may be from over rpm control
the fault codes should give a better idea
At this point it seems like electronic control even to the point of the ECM failing

This could be a number of things , get the OBD codes read as should give code for the faulty part (hopefully), it is a common faulty with this engine , try this site for more info from those who have had the same happen

Over-revving in 5th at 75mph all of a sudden

If the car rev'd up but did not speed up at the same time the clutch is starting to slip. Check the adjustment and recheck driving. When the clutch starts to wear this is how they act, only most people ignore whats happening and keep driving till adjustments won't fix it and the clutch has to be replaced. Have adjustment checked and keep an eye on it and hopefullty you won't need a clutch yet.

Focus over-revving

If you replace the throttle body,
Check the accelerator cable for correct installtion.
if correct.

yes the transmission speed sensor has most likely failed, to confirm this have a trouble code test run
