On a 97 5.7 liter the regulator is located on the CPI unit under the upper plenum. The upper plenum will need to be removed from the engine in order to gain access to the regulator.

Basically you will remove the metal fuel lines from the top of the engine. Unplug all the connectors. remove the throttle cables, disconnect vacuum lines, unthread EGR pipe, and remove the bolts holding the plenum in place.

On the vortec engines they require 56 pounds of fuel pressure to start a few pounds shy of that you have a dead vortec you will need a fuel pressure guage to verify

Can you put vortec heads intake and factory fuel injection on an older non vortec 4.3 engine block for a 97 blazer 4x4?

as long as it is a 5.0 or 5.7 and still a vortec series they will intechange fine

Where is the fuel pressure regulator located on a 1997 chevy blazer 4x4 4.3 vortec?


it is attached to the fuel injection spider unit under the upper intake. check it out at helpwrench.com. look under the how to section for vortec there, you will see it then.

5.7L vortec failed the dollar test on right side exhaust. Left side passed.. Bad valve, spring, intake/head gasket?


a compression test on the cylinders would indicate that either of the three problems are the cause and on what cyl(s)....have you checked plug wires and plugs?
