Question about 2004 GMC Envoy

1 Answer

Speedometer About 3 wks. ago my speedo started jumping in 1 mph increments instead of smooth motion. A couple of days ago I was going about 60 mph and speedo was showing 20 mph. Since then it is always showing 10 to 15 mph faster or slower than I am really going. Thanks for any help you can give me.

The speedo is electronic and has failed, you will need to have it repaired by an authorized GM repair shop that does GM electronics, this is not the dealer, they will send it out and charge 2X, send it out for repair yourself, bypass the dealer.

2002 chevy s10 temperature gauge jumping around, feels like automatic transmission slipping at speeds above 60 mph

Do you have an OBDII scanner to check the real temperature? Want to make sure it's not overheating. If it's normal, could be your temperature sensor starting to go out, or ignition switch. Any check engine lights? If so, get the code for me, can go from there. At a constant speed, you sure it wasn't a misfire instead? Check your trans fluid, make sure it's full. I was just in Tahoe, pretty sad not much snow at all.

have you checked your calipers? They may be sticking putting lots of strain onto the drive shaft causing it to vibrate.

With all the recent snow and grit on the roads you may have some caught in the mechanism meaning it cant release.

Just a small thought to start to determine the problem.

the 60 to 100-120 ratio almost equal what would be a mph/kph ratio, check you owners manual to see if there is a metric/standard switch anywhere as a lot of vehicals out there are equiped that way.

It may be that the speedo cable has come loose at 1 end and will need to be tightened back up. Sorry but not sure where ends are attached on your car.

Car won't start

I'd probably start with cleaning my connections at battery, & making sure my battery has a full charge. If not cured, maybe a new battery is required. If it will start with a jump, try running it for a couple of minutes with boosters on, and if all appears o.k. , change your battery.
