Question about Ford Focus

Open Question

I have a 53 Plate Ford Focus TDCi and have a bit of a starting problem. The engine turns over fine, but when it is cold or has not been used for a couple of days it takes time for it to start. It sounds as though it is trying to pull the fuel through, but I have had it Serviced recently and the mechanic told me that the fuel is getting through fine. They also checked the Glow Plugs and they are fine too. I changed the Battery as one of the cells was dead, but I am still experiencing problems. One garage said it needed a new Starter Motor and another said that it needed a new Mass Flywheel with Clutch and a new Starter Motor etc and was going to cost me a fortune. They said it was a common problem and the dust from the damaged flywheel has nowhere to go but into the starter motor so it is just a bad design by ford. Is this the case and will this solve my problem? If it is common and a bad design are Ford liable to pick up at least some of the cost?

Ford focus 1.6 tdci on a 61 plate losing coolant when under load

Probably a pin hole leak some where in a rubber type pipe, hose clips may need tightening or your radiator may have been damaged by a stone coming through the grill. You could try getting some one to sit in car and keep revs up on engine until you can see where any steam is coming from, beware steam is very hot. If you find the leak let engine fully cool down before starting any work.

Ford focus tdci not starting and white smoke coming out of the exhaust

It is a clear case of the glow plugs malfunction. It had happened with my neighbor who tried to start his diesel focus one day.
Even jump starting with another battery didn't solve the starting problem.

You could also check the EGR valve for damages and if you want to save a couple of bucks, then go in for used parts for the focus from Good used Focus Stuff

I believe your oil pump is not working, Please do not start the car anymore or your engine will suffer severe engine damage, have it towed to your mechanic.
