Question about 1996 Pontiac Grand Am
My car starts fine and runs fine, but somedays randomly it shuts everything off and dies when I try and start it again everything lights up on the dash and the starter makes noise like its trying to turn on... then 15 min later yet sometimes takes as much as four hours. I turn the key and it starts and run great again. its like the car decides when it feels like running or breaking down. by the time I get it to the shop they look at it and it works and they look at me like why did you bring it in again everything seems fine now. What could this be?
The engine in this car is controlled by an on board computer, when a problem like this occurs in most cases the computer stores a fault code for the problem, you need to do a fault code test by using the diagnostic connector under the dash in front of the driver, If you click this LINK it will show you how to read the codes without a scanner.
