Question about 1998 Ford Mustang
It was running fine yesterday after we got the flashing theft lite to stop flashing will not start now
Hello! When you say does not start; Does the starter motor crank?...If the starter motor cranks the engine the anti-theft is clear...If such is the case, lets eliminate the Inertia Fuel Shut-off Switch...The inertia fuel shutoff switch is located on the LH side lower back panel in the luggage compartment and is manually reset...To reset the inertia fuel shutoff switch; press button on top...Send a comment...Guru...saailer

It is not the relay this vehicle has the FORD PATS key based engine disabling system,
and it's not recognizing the chip in your
I would suggest having the dealer reset the key code or find a bypass kit for the whole system.

SOURCE: vehicle cranks but wont start
Turn ignition to run not start, count to 5,turn off key. Repeat this three times. Try to start vehicle. If its starts you are done. If not you will need to repeat turn ignition on count to 5 then turn off, 3 more times On the fourth time leave key in the run position for 10 minutes. Then turn key off & start vehicle.

try disconnecting the battery so it can reset..also listen to hear if the pump starts when u turn the key because it could be just a relay/fuse

You are going to have to take a voltmeter to the fuel pump wires at the connector to see if it is getting voltage. It'll only get voltage for one second after you first turn the key on and will get voltage continuously while trying to crank. So, you'll have to have someone crank the engine over while you check for voltage. If you get voltage and it won't come on, then you need to replace the pump.
