SOURCE: need marks for timimg belt

On the crankshaft gear there is a VERY small dimple that aligns with a mark on the motor. The mark on the motor (a small triangle) is at roughly 11 o'clock. After you line these timing marks up look at the camshaft gear and you will see that on one of the spokes there is a hole. You need to use a mirror to line this hole up with the dimple on the cover that is behind the camshaft gear. (It is at roughly 1 o'clock) If this hole is 180 degrees from where it should be you need to rotate the motor 1 more revolution at the crankshaft and it should now be lined up, or close. Once lined up I like to take a silver (metallic) Sharpie and make my own mark on the camshaft gear and on the backing plate that is behind it. You can make this mark where ever it is convenient for you. As long as you know where your marks line up, that is all that matters. This way I don't have to use the mirror as often.

  • Step 5 Once you have your timing marks aligned you need to locate the tensioner. The tensioner obviously keeps the appropriate amount of tension on the timing belt.

Well if it is a 4 cylinder the timing marks would be small hole in camshaft lined up with little dot on head at 12 o'clock position and the crank with the pulley on should line up with 0 on the timing indicator. If it is a 6 cyl then the marks would be- camshafts both with dots up and lined up with indicaters on heads and crank timing mark on 0 with the harmonic balancer installed. Hope this helps.

How do i check the timing marks on A TOYOTA CAMRY 2 LITER 4 CYLINDER 1995 model car ?

I have attached to where you align the notch for the cam gear. The harmonic balancer has a notch on it, which you align to the "0" on the lower cover. The belt has alignment marks on them normally crank gear is the dotted line and the cam will be the solid line. Don't reuse an old timing belt of you removed it without marking it first. You should have aligned the gears to there timing spots prior to removing the belt Be very careful if you have to rotate the cam or crank the Pistons can touch the valves and cause damage. Hope this helps.

Changed cyl head, on 1996 2.2 toyota camry, cant seem to figure out cam timing

there is a hole in the camshaft gear turn the gear until it lines up with a mark in the cylinder head at the top. then line the crankshaft gear mark up with the mark on the block. sometimes the best way to see the camshaft timing mark is with a mirror.

How do you set the crankshaft to the time shaft valve timing on a 3 litre Toyota V6 Camry?

There are marks on the crank gear and the cam gears that line up to marks on the new timing belt. An old belt might not have the marks any more because of age. Therefore a new belt might be necessary to be sure of this.

Hi need to know what timing marks to use when replacing cams

The timing marks to use are spot-drilled on the faces of the timing gears.
The timing marks on the camshaft gears must align side-by-side, and as closest as possible on the Toyota,Camry 2.2 engine.

How do you time the cam on a 1998 toyota camry

I ASSUME you have a 4 cylinder engine? The crank will have a mark to line it up pn TDC. The cam gear will have a small hole, line it up to the 12 o'clock position and there is a small dot on the end of the head that it will line up to when you look through that small hole. Be sure to proplerly tension the timing belt. Its a good idea to reseal the cam, crank and oil pump seals while the engine is apart.

Looking for timing mark on a 1996 toyota camry 2.2

On the cam gear there is a five spoke star, on one of the spokes there is a hole. This lines up with a notch on the housing for the cam seal. Look thru the hole to see the notch. (a small dental mirror is ideal) on the crank shaft gear is a mark on the outer teeth that the crank sensor reads off. This lines up with a mark on the housing right above the crank seal.
