Located on right hand side of block (pass side). It is between motor mount and starter.

if its a cmfi or csefi injection system theres 2 knock sensors 1 on each side of engine block,1 under the left bank of block,the other under right bank of block,tbi inj. theres 1 in front of starter.

you don't really have much choice but to disassemble the motor, or at the least remove the oil pan, the push rod should be in there. if you see any part of the pushrod from the top try using a magnet to retrieve it.

Sounds like you have good pressure but would not hurt to put a mechanical gauge on it to verify that. Chances are that the sending unit is going bad or a passageway to it is obstructed. If pressure is good, change the sender and put some marvel oil in there to clean up the residue.

comment exactly what you mean when you say --covered in oil
1-- is they covered in oil on the outside around the insulator and wires/ coils
2-- are the center electrodes black with oil and misfiring
if it the outside then replace the rocker cover gasket or if the plugs are recessed into the rocker cover , replace the oil seal under the plug tube in the rocker cover

Were is the drain plug located on a 2007 chevy 5.3 on the passenger side of engine . is it behind the ac unit. i want to put a engine block heater in.

How doe i put a head gaskit in my 1992 chevy silveroto 350 v8 thae simpilist way please and mabey some diagrams


Lots of work. Best bet get a Chilton manusl covering that year from the library or Ebay. Real quick disconnect battery, drain coolant, remove intake manifold, remove any accessories on the side of the engine you're working on , like compressor. Remove valve cover, loosen all valve rockers, remove all 8 push rods, remove head bolts, pull head. Lots of smaller stuff I skipped. You will definately need the specs to reset valve/rocker, torque values. Gasket set, change oil because there will be water in it. Better have a friend who has tried this before too. Can be done but it's tough to do the first time.

Oil pressure is fine. Oiling only to the pass side valve train.


The 3.1/3.4 engines are built the same way. The oil goes through the cam bearings then to the lifters, then the push rods to the rocker arms. The last engine I seen that had a weird problem had the cam bearings spun. Unfortunately there is no easy way to check for this problem short of disassembling the engine.

The other possibility would be bad lifters but loosing half of the engine lifters wouldn't be possible. Sometimes the pushrods wear on the contact areas also but not usually half an engine.

This isn't going to be easy, Good luck.

My 89 chevy is making a knocking sound i just replaced lifters,push rods rocker arms timing chain and gears cam and valve springs and umbrella seals. i have no clue what it could be except mabe the timing


Did you check the knock sensor located on the passenger side of the block, behind the starter, The sensor can be bad sending a signal to the Computer causing the computer to readjust the spark advanced timing causing Knocking and pinging....... or it could be as simple as bad gas. If you changed the timing chain, the gears should both be set with the the timing marks at 12 oclock for the 89 chevy K1500 5.7 350 V8 TBI OHV 16V if you set the timing at 12 oclock on the cam and 6 oclock for the valve and Distr. the number 6 is firing as number 1 you can recheck by bringing the No. 1 piston back up to TDC and check to see if your Distr. is pointing to the No. 1 Plug Hope this helps

Is it coming from the driver side, passenger side, front or rear of the engine? It could be a cam or crank seal if it is coming from the passenger side behind the plastic timing cover.

The engine knocks at higher rpm, only at high rpms


First no matter what check the oil level and then if it's a high rev tapping you need to allow the oil to flow through the engine block to try to coat and settle your valves.

But if it's really " knocking " sounds like your lifters and rocker arms are allowing your piston rods to clatter and that needs to be looked into fast.

It could be a rocker arm as well as a lifter or even a rod, you need to determen ware its comming from top end or bottom end. With engine running take a long screwdriver hold the handle end to your ear and other end to rocker cover the whole length of cover, both sides if there is a loose rocker you will hear it, same on oil pan if you suspect its a rod. You would be surprised on how much you can hear thru that.

The PCV valve is located in the valve cover on the passenger side of the vehicle. The valve is closer to the firewall than it is to the front of the engine. It has a hose attached to it and threads into the valve cover.
