SOURCE: cold start problems with 1987 honda accord

I have an 87 accord manual carbureted with 200k miles on it and mine has done that ever since I got it. I've owned it for about four years now and the previous owner told me it happens. I have no idea what it means but the only problem I've ever had was when the alternator went out last summer (which I doubt is related but had similar symptoms).

Not a solution, more just commiseration.

SOURCE: i need to know the timing marks for a 2002 honda

There are 4 marks on the crank pulley. When standing on the driver side of the car looking down on the pulley, the mark farthest to the right is the mark for TDC (Top Dead Center). The three marks on the left are for the spark timing. Of these three the mark in the center should align with the arrows/triangles on the timing belt cover when the engine is running and a timing light is shining on the crank pulley. The outer two marks represent Honda's tolerances for the ignition timing. As you look at the cam pulley the correct mark is at 7 o'clock with the two other marks at 3 & 9 o'clock positions. make sure you have correc timing, honda have "O" tolerance when it come to piston and the valves meets. or stop by any auto part store they should have Hane's auto repair manuel for 20.00 buck, worth all the money with proper instruction including picture, great investment to have for the future repair. spend little money to make sure you do the right job. good luck!!

Need to know how to time a 87 honda accord

When you say time, I take it you are referring to the timing setup of the motor, typically after a cylinder head removal? If this is what you are referring to, then you need a workshop manual or if this not available check out forums on google for your relevant model. If you are in any doubt, consult a qualifeid mechanic who has experience with Hondas as incorrect engine timing can result in catastrophic engine failure due to the valve coming into contact with the pistons.

Good luck. S

How do i time my car with out a timing gun

A "timing gun" is used for setting the distributor/ignition timing when the engine is running. If you are trying to replace a cam timining belt, the timing mark for the crankshaft is on the REAR of the engine on the flywheel and the transmission housing. The cam timing marks are on the camshaft sprocket and you align them with the valve cover mating surface on the cylinder head./

Balance shaft alinement marks on honda 2.3 litre engine

set it to top dead center. there's an access hole to put a 4" or 100mm pin to keep the balance shaft from moving when replacing a timing belt. The other marks are at the cam and crankshaft pulleys.

Or remove #1 cylinder spark plug, put a wooden rod against the piston, when it is at the top of it's travel and goes neither up or down, it is at top dead center. The balance shaft locking pin can then be inserted.

I cant find my timing marks for my 1990 honda accord lx because the cover is slightly woren but are the timing marks on the cover or engraved in the metal? this is for the crank shaft.

The 1990-1993 accord timing marks are located in the space between the engine and transmission. There is a rectangular rubber plug, at the top, front of the transmission housing, that pulls out and the timing marks are visible(with a timing light) through that access hole.

Need diagram showing timing adjustment for a 1992 honda accord 2.2 engine see no timing marks how do i set timing

Check the position of the timing marks. The timing pointer mustbe perfectly aligned with the TDC (white mark) on the flywheel orflex-plate; the camshaft pulley must be aligned so that the word UP isat the top of the pulley and the marks on the edge of the pulley arealigned with the surfaces of the head. Additionally, the face of thefront timing balancer pulley has a mark which must be aligned with thenotch on the oil pump body. This pulley is the one to the left crankwhen viewed from the pulley end.

Also, in here, 1994-Honda-Accord-Coupe-Section-01-Engine (page 47 and next / TDC marks) you can find referenece information about Accord Engine.
