Question about 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager

Brake Light trouble!

Help! 2 out of three of my brake lights stopped working. The top "third light" works when you hit the brakes, the lower 2 brake lights do not work. I have checked fuses, installed a new brake switch at the pedal and have checked all of the bulbs. The signals work fine, the running lights and flashers work as well. The van is wired for a trailer as well.
Thank you, Brian

The tail light lenses are most likley the problem. the sockets will also have to be replaced . try moving the backup light sockets to the brake light sockets . you should be able to get one working. this is for test purpos. at least you will know if it is the problem. good luck

Lower brake lights no longer work on my 2002 chevy tahoe but the 3rd brake light works fine. Checked fuse and bulbs and everything works fine. Just the 2 lower brake lights dont work.

Most of the time the problem is in the turn signal switch. The third brake light circuit bypasses the turn signals.
Someone would need to check brake light power in and out of the turn signal switch.

Brake light is working but not the tail light?

There are three fuses involved.
There is a 25 amp fuse before the brake switch located in the fuse box under the hood. Then there are two 15amp fuses after the brake switch in the box inside the cabin. One is for the lower brake lights and the other is for the high mount light and the trailer connector.
You would need to know if the 15amp fuse for the lower lights has power when the brake pedal switch is applied.

2004 Cadillac CTS break lights

Hello! There is a relay called the BAS relay (brake assist) that controls both the top brake light and the lower lights...Since the top light works the relay is doing its job...However, the relay output is connected to several White wires that carry the same voltage to all brake lights...One of those White wires (the one that carries voltage to the lower lights is open)...There is a Joint Connector located with the BAS relay in the Left rear fuse block...One White wire coming in from the relay contact and 3 White wires leaving...#1 to the top brake light...#2 left brake light and #3 right brake light...It would appear that the junction of #2 and #3 are open inside the Junction block...Not the easiest fault to find and fix...
If you have a multimeter I'll guide you through the process...Or you can take it to a wiring specialist...Wiring Junction blocks look like hair combs (multi-tooth metal combs that push into a connecter with several wires all the same color...In this instance WHITE WIRES...When someone depresses the brake pedal +12 volts must be on all three white wires...Send a comment...Guru...saailer

if the third brake light works then ther is a broken wire. start looking for it at the tail lights and work forward if you cant find the break you can always run a new possitive wire from either the third brake light to the tail lights or if the trailer wiring harness hase power to the brake lights you can splice in there as well. hope this helps

This happened to my jeep cherokee too, but it only happened to the left brake light. I found a forum(can't remember which one) which instructed me to check the contacts. There are 3, 2 are on one side, while 1 is on the other. The one by itself looked as if it had fallen in some, which could have been due to something melting. All I had to do was take a knife, or a small flat head screwdriver, and gently pry it up some so it was the same height as the other 2 contacts. A suggestion was to add a small piece of foil to keep it from falling back in, but I haven't done that. I will if it happens again. As of now, my brake lights are working just fine, and I didn't have to spend any money.

Main brake lights not working, third light works, turn signals work, all fuses are good, what could be the problem? 02 Olds Bravada.

Most likley the brake light switch. It has 2 different sides. One for the third brake light and one for the lower brake lights. It is inexpensive and can be changed easily. Good Luck

All lights work, except the brake /tail lights, the L.E.D. brake light on top works

The third break lights are LED and the circuit board may have gone bad or the solder may have gone bad. The circuit board is built in the third brake light and is a seal unit. You may have to replace the unit, there is a relay for the third brake light and that is located on the glove box behind the panel that say's relays. There are three relays in there, the center is for the fuel pump and the two out side are for the A/C and third brake light. Just swap them around and see if the brake lights come on. Good luck and keep me posted.
