I have a 1996 xhev cavalier z24 the engine has been replaced but they did not install the wire harness or the senors for check engine light needless to say it on all the time how cab diconnect it so it off i am sure everything is fine i guess back to the old school

This information requires a factory wiring diagram, I do not have one for this year and model. Sorry. You can obtain the rights to use the factory service manuals which contain the diagrams at this site I would not that the connectors to the various engine sensors are codes so they will only hook up to the correct sensor that they are intended to plug into.

    Correction: the various sensors have coded hardshell connector ends and the connector will pnly plug onto the intended sensor it goes to, so it is pretty hard to get the wiring hooked up wrong even without a manual.

I have a 2000 chevy Cavalier 2.2, the service light track off and ABS lights are on. I replaced the ABS sensor and the lights are still on. How do I fix it.

check fuses and relays --their is more than one sensor-also if the hub is bad replacing the sensor will not fix problem --check and clean all the sensors and harness connections sometimes the debris interferes with the sensor

better check the front wire harness for corrosion in the connector beneath the battery, check for continuityto both headlights and signal lights, if all wi well you may have a bad healight switch, but i tend lo lean more to the wiring

Your lockup torque converter is bad I believe. When you shift from Park into any gear it will die.

Check for vacuum leaks. Spray some carb cleaner or WD40 around the intake manifold, trottle body and any vacuum lines. Check for loose connections on engine wiring harness (Maybe you disconnected a sensor, and forgot to re-attach it?).

96 Chevy Cavalier z24 will not shift gears

i had the same issue with my cavalier 1998. the speed sensor wiring was chafed. fixed the wires and all is ok..hope this helps.

i will try to resolve this for you under the radiator support there is a wiring harness about center of the car under radiator open harness there is an orange wire that gets corroded and drops voltage find the corroded wire and repair
