You might try replacing the thermostat. Hows the heater work? That will give you a clue. A stuck or defective thermostat will cause poor fuel mileage and poor heater performance. This vehicle needs a
192-195 degree thermostat to operate correctly.

SOURCE: poor gas milage in winter only 150 miles to a tank of gas

Air is colder or more dense needs more fuel to make mixture correct. Is the exhaust tight. I know v6 had donut seal problems. would **** air in and 3rd o2 sensor would read lean and ecm adds more fuel. Just a thought

your problem is fix is easy your problem is the connection where the light bulb plugs into holder. Take bulbs out and clean plug contacts with a fine flat file, then make sure bulbs are pushed back correctly. And you problem should be solved.

this is very common problem, theres a vacuum leak.check the vacumm lines under the hood also check the one that goes inside to heater controls, whats happening is that it looses vacuum when you accel because the motor takes it,theres a one way valve that holds the vaccum when this happens but with a leak it cant hold vacuum, heres a vacuum diagram to help you check the vacuum lines,i dont know which engine you have in that 150 but this will be close. take good look at the circled areas in the diagrams, good luck, hope this helps you.d3fa7c0.giff57ca3c.gif

2001 Ford F150, need to know On Board Diagnostic reset timeframe

Take it to auto zone and have them scan the computer to see if there's codes. If you want to reset it by driving it might take up to 100 miles and you'll have to drive it in the city and freeway until the computer relearns all of its settings. I would just take to auto zone and have them reset it, its faster.

Erratic shifting on 2001 f150 pickup

How many miles on it? Do you mean overdrive? Over drive will clunk when shifting in cruise. Mine lasted 212,000 miles but I have heard of them going out after 120,000, depends how you drive. That Traney is good till it starts acting up then you will need a complete overhaul. I got it done for $1800. Do not go to a Ford dealer, they quoted me $3200.
