You might try replacing the thermostat. Hows the heater work? That will give you a clue. A stuck or defective thermostat will cause poor fuel mileage and poor heater performance. This vehicle needs a
192-195 degree thermostat to operate correctly.

Air is colder or more dense needs more fuel to make mixture correct. Is the exhaust tight. I know v6 had donut seal problems. would **** air in and 3rd o2 sensor would read lean and ecm adds more fuel. Just a thought

EXCESSIVE FUEL CONSUMPTION CAN BE CAUSE BY LOW TIRE PRESSURE,STOP UP AIR FILTER.DIRTY FUEL INJECTORS.LOT OF QUICK STOPS.LEAD FOOT ON ACCELERATOR.LOOK FOR FUEL LEAKS UNDER THE HOOD IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT.LOOK FOR FUEL LEAKS UNDER FRONT CAR TO REAR OR CAR WHERE FUEL LINES GOES TO FUEL FILTER AND FUEL TANK.
