The easiest way is to rent an inner axle shaft removal tool. You should be able to from a local parts supplier.

SOURCE: 2002 dodge stratus clutch removal

first the engine does not need to be removed, a engine support bar is placed over the engine bay and hooked to the engine while the transmission is dropped, the clutch is bolted to the flywheel on the engine side and not on the transmission, if you are requesting info on how to seperate the transmission from the engine then you will need to support both engine and transmission equally so that there is no hang up between the transmission input shaft and the clutch splines, also be careful not to cause any damage to the pilot bearing or it will be harder to remove later, then use a pry bar between the two, being out of the car could be a bit more tricky,

When turning over the ignition there is no reaction or sound of any kind out of my 1997 Q45. After a few attempts it starts just fine.

HI! its the solenoid on the side of your starter motor ,this 'part' makes your starter cog push out onto the engine flywheel to crank the engine over ,they get tired as they age and the easiest way to fix it is to get a new starter motor or find a second hand one from a auto wrecker that gives a 3 month warranty with it,they are sometimes very awkward to remove and i suggest having it removed by a auto-electrician or mechanic and give them the replacement to refit ,this is most definitly your vehicles problem.

2002 celica GTS Transmission makes noise when shifting souns like gears grind although clutch is pressed all the way down. Do not see where to check tranny fluid. I replacing the clutch difficult on this...

There may be several reasons for this. 1st, low transmission fluid levels can cause the gears to grind while shifting due to lack of lubrication. I would suggest checking the fluid level, there is a plug located on the side, in about the middle of the transmission which when removed should slowly seep oil from it. If it doesn't then you will need to add the recommended transmission fluid.
2nd, a maladjusted clutch can cause the same problem. Even though you have the clutch pedal to the floor, the clutch pressure plate may not be completely disengaging from the flywheel. This will cause pressure on the gears and synchronizers while trying to shift. I suggest having the clutch adjusted by a mechanic if you have never performed this function yourself. An inproper adjustment can severely shorten the life of the clutch.
The 3rd option may be a warn clutch component like the slave cylinder if equipped, the throwout bearing or even the pressure plate itself.
A visual inspection can be made of the clutch by removing the inspection plate from the bottom of the bell housing to view the flywheel and clutch. With someone depressing the clutch you should be able to see the clutch moving off the flywheel.

My 03 Navigator started having problems not starting

Have you removed the 'new' starter to examine the teeth on it? If they are broken as well, the flywheel 'ring' gear may need to be replaced which entails removing either the engine or the transmission to be able to service the flywheel. If you have an automatic transmission, the flywheel part is called a 'flex-plate' and the ring gear is integral with the plate. If the new starter doesn't have damaged teeth, then it may be defective electrically--warranty time. Hope this helps you!

1991 mr2 clutch slipping , i want to change it myself

I suggest that if you are really serious about this you look into buying a Big Green Book for the car from the dealer and read up on it. It is an awful lot of work and can easily be done wrong. Unless you have a garage and a comprehensive "$4000+" tool collection I suggest that you take it to a garage. Changing a clutch is not a "Take the old out and put a new one in" type of job. It requiers having the flywheel resurfaced, removing the transmission from the car, removing axles and spindles, removing exhaust, and many other small agrivating tasks to be done correctly. I also suggest you pay to have the motor mounts and spherical bearings replaced at the same time.

Hello Friend, I have a Dodge Caravan 1997 and in the process of changing out my water pump and timing belt. I am in the stage where I need to open the damper harmonic bolt. Which direction does this bolt...

I have managed to open the harmonic damper bolt. This bolt opens in the counter clockwise rotation. A breaker bar was used with the flywheel locked in place. In order to get to the flywheel, the starter motor was removed to get access. The manual suggest removing the bell housing plate. This takes more effort and one of side engine mount also need removal. I decided to remove the starter motor instead. In order to remove the starter motor, first remove the cables from the starter motor and three mounting bolts. Secure a rod or a screw driver between the flywheel and bell housing through a hole in the flywheel. The size of the size is about 1/2". This hole was visible when the engine is set to TDC (top dead center). There could be more than one hole but I did not try to rotate the engine to find out. Once the rod or the screw driver in place in the flywheel, use the 22mm socket head and breaker bar and undo the harmonic damper bolt counter clockwise (CCW). I believe an impact air gun could do this job as well. The spec on the bolt is 100 ft lbs torque - Hendry
