SOURCE: Need fuse schematic
if the fuse was blown the stop lights on both sides would be inop, also if the stop light circuit were dead u would be unable to get the trans out of park, use a 12 volt test light and test the brake light switch at the top of the brake pedal, u can buy a test light from Autozone, kragen and others for about $5 US. If the system has power cjheck the bulb socket it may be defective, use the 12 volt test light while someone pushes the brake pedal. let me know what u find and i will give u further assistance as ness.

Sounds like either a short in the wiring or corrosion built up on the contacts in the bulb socket. First try cleaning the contacts in the socket with a wire brush. Look at the wiring for any burnt spots or obvious damage to the insulation on the wires. I would start by insulating the wires with electrical tape as far back from the socket as I could reach and see if that helps. Good luck.

did you check if power was reaching the socket? you will need a test light to check, I would by one, it will come in handy for years. see if power is at the socket, if so there is a bad ground, you need to verify that to not waste a lot of time guessing, if the turn signals work OK the ground is probably good and there well may be a problem but check power in the socket first.
