Question about 1999 Chevrolet Corvette

Tail lights and instument panel lights will not come on

My 1999 Corvette's instrument panel lights, as well as my tail lights will not turn on when I turn on my headlights on. If I continue driving they have eventually turned on. It acts as if a wire is loose but I can't seem to find a solution.

I had the same problem. The local collector Corvette dealer ("Fairly Reliable Bob's" is their name, and I am not joking.) told me they see it all the time and that it is due to a faulty turn signal sub-assembly.

SOLVED! I ordered the Turn signal assembly. The lowest price I found was about $200 plus shipping, depending on where you buy it. The best deal I found was at, for $181.57. The dealer asked $300 for the same part. Anyhow, I took apart my dashboard (not easy, but not really a big deal if you have the right star bits for their goofy screws), replaced the assembly and everything works great.

Dash board lights and tail lights wont come on when I turn head lights on

Sounds like you have a fuse out in your control panel. Look inside your owners manual and locate the fuse panel, check the fuses and replace.

Dashboard Lights

there is light bulbs behind the instument cluster. You will have to remove the screws, than pry off your panel and change the bulb.

Tail lights don't work on 1998 Chevy Silverado.

check the wiring from the tailights back to the fuse panel, it sounds like an open connection. if i recall correctly check under the dash on the drivers side near the fuse panel for a bunch of wires in a bundle and look carefully for a wire or two that are cut/shorted/or seperated, you can also check under the drivers side kick panel by the hood release.

Tail lights dont work but bake and turn singals do

did you also check the fuses under the hood, there is a 20 amp out there that feeds that circuit.

Fuse keeps blowing for my tail/instrumnet lights '98 ford escort

Here is an easy start. Start unplugging things. Start with the tail lights. 1 then the other. Then unplug the instrument lights then maybe the switch itself. after that its gonna be a matter of pulling trim panels to find the culprit (dashes and kick panels are common areas for this to happen). There is also another means too. when you unplug the item in question you can use a Ohmeter and use the black to a known ground then you can start touching wires to see which one has no resistance to ground. then you will need to trace that wire which can be a pain. As you can see this can get progressively worse as time goes on, but be patient and methodical and you'll get it figured out soon enough!
