Question about Cars & Trucks

Open Question

Ford Lynx SV gauge meters, L/R signal lights not working after brake oil was topped up. What's the cause and the solution?

The brake signal light was on while driving. Went over to service center and they topped up brake oil. Was alright for sometime. Next day, the whole odometer wasn't working. Digital km gauge (odometer) is on. Dashboard lights on. Door open signal works fine. Left & right signal lights not lighting but double signal lights work fine. Wiper works fine. Fuel & Temperature, Speed, RPM gauges not working.

SOURCE: Check gauge light is on

Check the ground out at the thermistate housing area. Put a new wire loop end if needed . but clean with wire brush or sand paper if it is on the housing . Try moving to the intake itself . Try this before tring a computer. Good Luck!

2004 Nissan Altima 3.5L BATTERY LIGHT went on during 15 minute drive. Next day car "died" while idling after a 20 minute drive. BRAKE WARNING LIGHT & BATTERY LIGHT on prior to full electrical failure.

Start with checking the alternator voltage with a multimeter. With the car off check the voltage in the battery which should be holding 12v charged less if flat of course then start the car and test the battery again. If the alternator is good you should be getting a reading of 14 to 14.5 v if it's the alternator it'll A) not put any charge into the battery or B) be a very low voltage being anything under 13.5 v

What causes fuse for signals to blow when activated and the signal lights light up when breaking on a E 150 Ford van?

Hi J.D.
The signal lights and the brake lights usually use the same filament in the bulb. If there is a bad ground on the rear lights, the current can go back through the signal light circuit and cause weirdness to happen.
If the fuse blows you net suspicious of a dead short which allows more current than intended.
I would recommend using a continuity meter and a voltmeter and doing a function check of the different parts of the circuits involved.
Hope this helps.
One last idea...... Has any maintenance been done on the wiring or lights recently? Something had to happen between when it worked, and when it didn't. That's what we're trying to find.

1990 Ford f250 brake lights and turn signals won't work - checked all fuses, flasher and bulbs and all are good, what could problem be??

Well the brake light and turn signal circuits are on two different fuses, but they both go thru the turn signal switch.
So I would start by checking for power in and out of the turn signal switch for each circuit.

Reverse light work but brake light and rear turn signal doesnt

If your brake lights and turn signals are out, you most likely have a blown fuse, burnt bulb, or a problem in the steering column.----------------------------------------------------------------------

2004 gmc denali: backlit dash lights do not work

Check your bulbs first, I have lost both headlights on my ford at once on account of the bulbs burning out at the same time. Same thing probably happen, you have one filament out. The lights can work, but if the filament for brake is burnt, you don't see brake lights.

1995 Ford f250 brake lights don't work ad neither do the hazard flashers. I replaced the flasher node and the turn signals began to work but still no brake lights.

You may have a bad signal switch..Your brake lights run through the signal switch..Try hitting the brakes and move the switch around and see if your brake lights come on intermittently..
