Question about 2004 Honda Pilot

After market stereo with factory nav

My factory stereo has finally died after a lot of issues [have checked all fuses, wiring etc]. honda wants about $800-$900 for a replacement stereo. i can get a less expensive aftermarket stereo [2 din] which i would like to put in it's place. i'm hearing conflicting reports that my factory nav will not work if this is done. i don't care about the nav's voice since i don't use that. the two units sit pretty far apart and i feel this should be do-able. any advice? thank you very much in advance.

I have a 2001 Ford Taurus, just installed a factory stereo/heat control unit back in the car but I have no power to the stereo. What should I check?

I would check the fuses for the radio. One should be in the engine compartment distribution box and there should be another fuse in the interior fuse box. If these fuses are intact and you have a multimeter, I would check the presence of at least 2 pins with + 12 Volt on the radio connector. The pin out diagram can be seen if you do a search for the 2001 Taurus. Good luck, hope this helps.

It sound like a power/ground problem. It may also be that the stereo system is causing a draw that is affecting the rest of the vehicles systems.

I assume you removed stock stereo to replace with aftermarket. I assume you have checked the fuses. Did you cut the factory wiring or did you use a wiring kit that plugs into the factory wire harness?

I have a 97 vti-s that somebody ripped the factory stereo out and left bare wires i have 13 wires - 12 of which i know and a yellow/black one that i need help finding what its for

some times factory stereos have extra wires that when installing an after market stereo might be extra. if you have your 3 power wires figured out, your speaker wires figured out, and remote start amp wires, then your good. it is possible that it is a wire that turned the light on the factory stereo when lights were turned on in your car. hope this helps, goodluck

while snagging your tunes, these guys may have disconnected a ground wire, pull out the heater fuse, check to see if 12v is getting to the fuse at box, if so and the fuse is good,it's a ground or switch issue, they probably have a book on your car at the library with the wiring diagram, they have a copier too

CAR STEREO AND CLOCK DONT WORK, LOCATION OF FUSE 25

You are correct on checking the sterio, just 12+ and ground to see if it powers up. Fuse 25, in your fuse box should be numbered. If not, just pull them one at a time to see which one got fried.

New radio installed - now dash lights don't work

Most factory stereos are wired to the dash dimmer switch. Usually if the dash lights go out after an after market stereo installation, it is because the wire that originally went to the factory stereo is not used for after market stereos. Double check the fuses and ensure the wire that controlled the lights on the factory stereo is not grounding out on something.
