SOURCE: 2005 Nissan Altima Cruise Control will not set

I had a similar problem and I took my car to the dealer. They said that they have to tune the cancel switch of the cruise control and charged me $105. I don't know if I sent more or is it reasonable, but I got it working now. you can try at a local mechanic and see if they can do it for less. if not, just take it to the dealer, and they will fix it. it didn't take long for them to fix it, so obviously it is a small problem, but we don't know how to fix it.

Audio controls do not work on nissan altima

hi
long story short, your car problem is, the spiral cable is braking up.
it fits under the steering wheel,
spiral cable is the part that connect the moving side (steering wheel)function buttons, horn, air bag, to the fixed side (car electric loom).
good luck

This could be the coiled contact ribbon drum under the steering wheel called the clockspring.

2003 altima cruise control button broke off.

I've had the same problem on a 2004. The SET button has popped off for the second time now. Last time I bought the cluster and repaired myself. Hey, plastic parts break but my complaint is that Nissan should supply a $5 plastic button that would just pop in the spot where the old button was. As is you must buy the whole control cluster. That's just wrong!

When I click it to come it wont.. then the light for it comes on and is the cruise control still wont work. Is it a fuse maybe? 1997 Nissan Altima

Hello there.

I would deffinetly check all of your fuses first, as cruise controll will work with a different part of the car.

i know that abs ( anti lock brake system) works with traction controll.

so i would deffinetly go for fuses buddy, there located under the steering wheel on the right if a right hand drive car.

if left hand drive, then left hand side on a pull down flap, you will see with have a little clip on it.

Thanks alot.

Ps. there are also fuses in the engine bay located in a little black box, with normally white numbers and lines on :) the in car fuse layout is found on the reverse of the plastic, cover that will either come off or flip down.

Cruise Control not coming on

the problem is in most cases is the switch or the contact under the steering wheel that connects the switch to the main wiring in the car, that part is called the clock spring rotoating contact ribbon.

I have to say I think it is going to be very difficult for you or any one one line to trouble shoot this particular problem.

The one thing you have in your favour here is that the computer was recently reprogrammed by the dealer. In this case I would take it back to the dealer and point out that you had the work done - tell them the cruise worked fine before they did that and that now it is not working.

You need to lay this at the dealers feet as something that has happened as a result of their work.

Has any check engine light been on ? If the vacuum lines were faulty I think you would have a check engine light on. It could also be the contacts in the Cruise control set switch though that are not for some reason working, which you could look at if the dealer declines to do anything - but I would seriously work the dealership first to have them fix it as something they have induced through previous work - you should not pay to correct something they have broken.
