1996 jeep grand cherokee loredo

Red security lite on dash comes on and doesn't shut off...appears as if something "locked out". Is there a reset?

the veh won't start but power everywhere.

After disconnecting the battery, then re-connecting, jeep won't start, and red security appears on dash board


ok use door locks lock every thing then go unlock the tail door then unlock passenger door that should reset it

I left my jeep on the drive with no battery in it for a few months, now i've tried starting it all the lights comes on, but it looks like the immobiliser is not letting me start it. is there a way of...


That year Jeep is not equipped with an immobilizer. It does have a factory security system that can be shut off by turning the lock cylinder in the rear hatch to unlock-lock-unlock. That should allow it to start. if it still doesn't want to crank, then there is something else preventing it from starting. Might even be a stuck starter or bad starter relay.

The 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Anti-Theft System is equipped with Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS). VTSS system monitors vehicle doors, hood, liftgate and ignition. If an attempt is made to enter or operate vehicle without proper disarming of system, vehicle horn will sound, headlights, taillights and parking lights will flash, and engine will be prevented from running.

The following wiring diagram and electronics circuit contains detail schematics of The 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Anti-Theft System. Herein you will find interconnection between electronics parts of the system such as body control module, auto headlamp light sensor. VTSS led, driver door module, passenger door module, cylinder lock switch, junction block, power distribution center, and grounding. Herein you will learn also how the Vehicle Theft Security System works, removal, installation, testing and troubleshooting procedures.

they have crankshaft sencers on the transmission on jeeps. it would be up high on the drivers side on front of transmission. they will cause it to not get fuel or fire and can run then quit.
