Question about 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
My car just started jerking when I come to a complete stop at an idle, fine when I hit the gas and start going. I put it in neutral and it stops, so when I come to a stop I have to put in neutral or it will **** like it wants to take off or stall out like it's not getting any gas or something. What could this be? Cindy
Have your modulator valve checked, or there could be a vacuum leak somewhere.

Testimonial: "thanks for your advice, Robert Rankin, I thought it sounded like a vacuum leak too..........the problem ended up being a worn out rubber grommet thingy on the end of a hose, so replaced it and runs like a top now"
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Soujnds like your throttle positioning sensor is going bad. This is the sort of thing that happens before they go completely out.

3800's are really good motors, but that's a sign of fuel injector problems. I've seen this all to many times. Run some injector cleaner through it and see if cleans up.
One question however, does it stall out and have a problem restarting? Black smoke out of the exhaust? This is sign of an EGR valve problem that may be fixable simply with a nice cleaning.
I'd try the injector cleaner first, and if it continues, go onto the EGR valve. If this shows no problem, it may be a good time to take the car to a mechanic and have the injectors tested. They may be failing but not giving out a fault indicator.

there should be holes in power steering pump pulley that when positioned correctly the bole should go through one of those holes, if not then you have to remove the pump

its your M.A.F thats the air flow sincer i had that problem also but as soon as i got a new 1 it stopped and ran fine. the part cost about 160 bucks at auto zone and is easy to take off and put on yourself cuz the shop charge about 300 bucks to do a 3 min job but im sure that is the problem with your car

The fuse box is located on the passenger side panel of the dash . you have to open the passanger door to get at it.
The other fuse boxes are under the hood, on each side under a diagonal support arm that has to be removed to get at the fuses & relays
