Question about 2007 Toyota Tacoma

The H4 & H2 do not work

Beeping occurs when I engage either the H4 or the H2

I made an error. It's The H4 & LO 4 which do not work. H2 works as normal. The green icon on the dash comes on, but blinks when I put it in H4, The Lo 4 Icon on the dash comes on, flashes, and makes a beeping noise when I engage Lo 4. Yet it's as if I never turned either on, as it continues to operate in H2. It was kind of embarrassing having 4 people help push me out of the sand at the beach the other day(2 jeep owners, 1 Chevy, 1 Ford)!

I have been told there is some kind of "switch"mechanism which may be stuck (since I don't use 4WD very often). Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Try backing up about 20 feet when you change to 2H. This allows for the front hubs to release for 2H operation if the actuator is functional. If it is not, the switch is the first place to look/replace after checking fuses and wiring for potential damage.

03 H2; air conditioner makes a clicking sound when on AIR and you accelerate. Does not do it when air is off. Also, back tail light keeps going out even when you replace bulb. Thanks

Clicking sound you hear is the belt tensioner, due to a malfunctionig a/c compressor ,

the reed valves of the compressor are broken causing unstable pressure that makes the belt tensioner vibrate

Igition switch wont shut off

I had a similar problem. Check the connection under the dash just above the emergency brake. There is a block which runs North-south which is the wiring harness for the steering wheel. On that harness is a grey U shaped clamp. If it is not engaged all the up (toward the top of the car) then block will work loose and not allow the connection for the lock solenoid to dis-engage, locking your key in the ignition lock.
