no year, azera? why not name car?????
always on the the end of the cam.
but on a Toyota, XG 350, not a clue..... read blue box above,. ugh !
i will not do posts , no year, and get funky no country.. for most.
dig,dig ,bam
XG350 name was used as of 2002 to reflect the new 3.5 L version of the Sigma V6.
ok the 3.5L
i looked online and 9 engines, shows CMP but not 3.5L

"On the 3.5L engine, the sensor is located at the front of the engine near the camshaft gear."
this engine has VVT with 2 sensors and 2 vvt solenoids
finding the real CMP is hard. sure.
part 39318 CMP
it exactly here, so you can find any part ad Hyundai. just look

clear huh?
this is best covered with a REAL FSM
and if PCM is throwing codes, do not assume this part is bad
they rarely go bad... instead post the code. DTC.

what if the chain was loose. the sensor will read wrong,
just one lil, example.

Where is the cam sensor on a 2001 gmc 3500 serria 8.1

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
  2. If the vehicle is equipped with the underbody shield package, remove the steering linkage shield.
  3. Disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector (3).
  4. Remove the CMP sensor bolt (2).
  5. Remove the CMP sensor (1).
  6. Inspect the CMP sensor for wear, cracks or leakage if the sensor is not being replaced.

Installation ProcedureImportant: Inspect the CMP sensor O-ring for wear or damage. If a problem is found, replace the O-ring. Lubricate the new O-ring with engine oil before installing.
  1. Install the CMP sensor (1).
Important: The CMP sensor bolt has self-tapping threads, care must be taken, NOT to strip the threads when installing.
  2. Install the CMP sensor bolt (2). Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 12N•m(106 lb in).
  3. Connect the CMP sensor electrical connector (3).

    Engine light is on

There are problems with the O2 sensors (2 of them in the front exhaust pipes directly behind and below engine manifolds for cylinder banks 1 and 2). The 2 sensors should be replaced as a set never just one.

Showing Code P1309. Replaced the cam sensor and still showing the code or CMP. What can it be?

You may need to replace the PCM, engine computer. very rare issue. Personally, I would leave it. It is only there to tell you if a cylinder is not firing. You will know if one is.

    • Connect PCM.
    • Connect digital multimeter.
    • Start engine and vary engine RPM.
    • Measure voltage between CMP and PWR GND circuits at the PCM harness connector.
Does AC voltage vary greater than 0.1 volt AC? Yes No VERIFY the correct installation by referring to the Electronic Engine Controls, Section 303-14 in the Workshop Manual. If CMP is installed properly, REPLACE PCM (refer to Section 2 , Flash EEPROM). REPLACE CMP sensor. COMPLETE Misfire Monitor Repair Verification Drive Cycle.

P1309 - Misfire Monitor Disabled When the misfire monitor is disabled, usually due to the input signal generated by the camshaft position (CMP) sensor, by sensing the passage of teeth from the CMP wheel.
    • Camshaft position sensor
    • Powertrain control module
    • ECT, MAF, and CKP sensors
Verify the CMP is installed correctly and not out of synchronization.

    Installing a camshaft sensor

Replacing the Sensor 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable...just like on every other installation 2. Detach the CMP sensor connector next. 3. Remove the CMP sensor retaining bolt and remove the CMP sensor

    Now to install:

    1. Clean the CMP sensor surface and ensure that the O-Ring is in place. 2. Position the CMP sensor into the engine and tighten the retaining bolt to 71-106 inch lbs. 3. Attach the CMP sensor connector 4.Connect the negative battery cable.

Most common cause for code P0340 of 95 Ranger

Hi, the cam shaft sensor will be located Under the hood, center, upper engine area, mounted behind rear of intake manifold, in the engine block.

This is a magnetic or hall effect sensor. It sends a signal to the computer relaying information about shaft speed, position and acceleration or deceleration. This information determines when the fuel/air mixture needs to be ignited and how much mixture is needed for the engine.

The possible causes of failure will be faulty housing or faulty wires as well. A faulty ECM could trigger a false alarm as well. this is highly unlikely but, possible in most cases. The most reported reasons is flat out sensor failure.

    Camshaft sensor

It is located at the right rear of the engine block. It has a plug with three wires in it. Hope this helps.
