You should be able to find a puller that will fit your application. A puller is the safest way to get these off without damage.

yes it can stop vehicle from starting, but i would call a mobile mechanic to check it out for you, start changing bits willy nilly and it will cost you more in the long run.

SOURCE: replaces fuel pump, replaced fuel filter ,

I'm not too familiar with those motors or their ignition system but i would suggest looking into the ignition system as the culprit in this situation. Check for corrosion under the cap(if applicable), coil, and at the spark plug wire ends.

SOURCE: car wont start. replaced fuel

Definitely not a knock sensor.

Just to clarify, you spray starting fluid in the intake and it will start and run for a short time and then stall?

My engine stops for no apparent reason while driving. I suspect the crankshaft sensor. The fault goes away as seemingly at will. Any other suggestions. 2001 Honda CRV

That could be caused by any number of thing's ! Electronic ignition , engine computer , sensors , fuel pump possibly . Don't suspect anything , test and if you don't have tools or knowledge suggest you watch videos on youtube for crank sensor testing . Check engine compartment wiring harness for lose connections , wires that are bare and touching ground . Check for small animal nests , rodents like to chew on wire's . Electronic componets can cause problems like this but the vehicle won't start up again till the componet cools down . My Jimmy will be running and just die.even going down the road at 60 or 50 mph but will start back up.sometimes it takes a couple times cranking it over but sometimes it will start right away

Could be anyone of a number of thing's , sensors , ignition module , engine computer , fuel pump going bad etc.... Do you want to just start replacing parts ? Your best is have the vehicle diagnosed at a qualified repair shop . Or there are videos on youtube on testing engine sensors , fuel pump etc.... 1997 cougar xr7 won't start?

Leaving the key on longer then two seconds does nothing ! When you first turn the key to on the PCM - engine computer will energize the fuel pump relay for 2 seconds ! If you want to turn the pump on for another 2 seconds you would need to turn the key off an then on again ! The only other way the PCM will energize the pump is while cranking the engine , if it sees an input from the crankshaft position sensor . Rather then just replace parts an making part stores rich , why not learn how to do proper diagnostics . Test the electrical circuits . What's the fuel pressure ? What does the mass air flow signal to the PCM look like ? Hooking up a scan tool an viewing engine sensor data etc.... Check the CCRM - constant control relay module . Google CCRM

I have a 1992 dodge Dakota and it keeps shutting down while driving or anything. Replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, and plugs wires, abstribator cap and rotary button, and also the pick up.

This is a common problem when your crankshaft position sensor starts failing. I am attaching a picture to show you where it is. If it is faulty, your engine will stall for no apparent reason, and then will usually start again, almost right away.jcfs259.gif

1999 cadillac catera I was driving and car killed would not restart it would crank but not start. when the tow truck delivered the car and it started up right away. is this the fuel filter or fuel pump?

Sounds like the fuel pump. and a filter would be changed at the same time. Too bad you missed the opportunity to test that the pump was actually the issue... Has it made any funny sounds, lately?

But the best thing is to have two people at the vehicle at the failure time. One tries the starter, and the other pounds HARD on the lower part of the fuel tank, thinking to agitate or bounce the pump. OFten you get one more run out of the pump...

If it actually is a pump issue, and not some connection, somewhere, be assured it will fail again. Replace it. Kind of pricey for this job, oh well.

If you hear the fuel pump come on when you put the key to the run position...then replace the crankshaft position sensor, I would also replace the camshaft position sensor as well because a failure there will have the same effect, and its cheap insurance against further breakdown. $80 for both at

When the crankshaft position sensor fails the engine will run for one second then shut off as if it ran out of gas.

Make sure your fuel pump is running; it should run about 5 seconds when you try to start the car. if not check the fuse and relay for the pump and the ground strap

Make sure your battery is in good condition with tight connections.
