Depending on how much of the fluid is actually removed the fluid capacities are as follows:
Bottom Pan Removed : 7.4qtComplete Overhaul: 10.0 qtDry: 13.4qt
Since some transmission fluid is generally trapped inside the transmission during service, the actual number will depend on how much of the transmission was serviced.

I am not sure which engine you have on your 202 Grand Prix, but if you have the most common 3800 V6 this is where it should be. Look at the back of the engine compartment just to the left of the plastic master cylinder resevoir.
Here is a picture you can look at...

Why won't my 2007 grand prix go forward??

Depending on mileage and care...100K+ could mean low on tranny fluid (1) dirty clogged tranny fluid & filter (2) wheel bearing worn/locked? If you think it is dirty/low on tranny fluid, try adding a bottle or 2 of Lucas Oil Transmission Stabilizer...works great without draining anything...try this first...any other symptoms?

96 Pontiac grand prix the transmission won't engage until its at operating temp.

Sounds like mine. Probably low on transmission fluid. One quart made a huge difference. You may have a leak. Spots under the car? Keep watching it, Keep a spare quart in the car and funnel
for emergency till you get leak fixed.

Does a mercedes benz 2007 350 CLK convertiable have a 722.9 transmission? would you use BG ATF synthetic auto transmission fluid in this model at the 40 thousand mile trans service?

If you don't have synthetic in it now I woundn't, because you can not get all the fluid out with a regular transmission fluid change. Your transmission holds 14 to 15 quarts and when they do a fluid and filter change they replace about 5 quarts from the system.

2003 pontiac grand prix 3.8...the car hard shifts at take off and jerks from 1st - 2nd

If you have an Automatic transmission, you are out of transmission fluid. Check the fluid by viewing the dipstick nearest the engine firewall, and if it is low, add one quart at a time. Do not overfill, or you will blow a gasket and have a bigger problem. You may also need to replace your transmission, if problem reoccurs. To see if your transmission is leaking, park for about an hour, on any flat concrete surface and look for red fluid spills.

I have no transmissions dip stick for my 2007

Your vehicle holds 5 to 5.5 quarts of transmission fluid. If you do not plan on replacing the dipstick you can drain the fluid from your tranny and replace it with 5.5 quarts of transmission fluid. I would recommend replacing the dipstick so you can determine the amount you have in your transmission.

How much transmission fluid does a 1999 Grand Prix once I drop the pan and change the filter? Also, what kind of transmission fliud works best? Thanks

Transmission fluid does not have to deal with nearly the number of problems engine oil has to, with heat, water, acids, grit, etc., so it is not at all critical. In the old days, Ford always had a different fluid because they used different material for seals. But these days the all the fluids sold are great.

As to how much, that depends. There will only be about 4 quarts in the pan and transmission, but the total is more than twice that, and it can very anywhere in between, depending on how much fluid drains down from the torque convertor. It has a little flap that is supposed to stop drainage, but it always leaks down slowly anyhow. So there is never any set amount. You just have to estimate how much came out, put that much in to start, and keep checking and adding, with the engine running.

you may change the filter and fluid, but in most cases it will not do any good. Find a good trans shop to check it out.
