If you purchased a re manufactured alternator i would advise that you take it back and have it exchanged. I have had this happen alot when i buy re manufactured alternator's i get them in the vehicle and they are bad too. It happens alot. They company you got it from should let you exchange it.

Battery keeps going dead

24 volts is way to high, the battery should be 12 volts, the alternator should put out 13 volts up to 15.5 volts, if the alternator belt is excessively loose, it wont charge properly, if the belt is tight check the alternator output, (you can ck it at the battery) make sure the output is a minium of 13 should be not less when reving the engine up a little the voltage should increase, but not above 15.5 volts

My 2001 nissan xterra will not start. I have checked all the fluids, my battery is less than a year old. It sounds like it is going to start, but does not pull through all the way.

Check the battery terminals and posts are shiny clean and tight. Have a load test done on the battery as it may have a dead cell. (yes new batteries do fail). Check alternator drive belt condition and tension . Check that the alternator is working correctly.

Like a dead batterie no power

make sure battery cables tight and clean if cables look badly corroded replace both battery cables clean battery terminals if all is good..have battery check should have 12.5 volts.if not battery need to be charged and checked.if battery can hold charge.have alternator tested.with engine idling alternator out put at battery should be 13.5 - 14.5 volts. if not alternator faulty.make sure drive belt not damaged or loose and belt tensioner working correctly keep tension on drive belt.if you have digital voltmeter you can check battery and alternator output.

Car dies and battery light comes on

If the light is on when car is running, the alternator is still not working. Check your power distribution center near the battery for any fuses out. Maybe there is an alternator fuse.
Is your battery good? A completely dead battery may not take a charge from the alternator. It needs to be charged off the car. Have it load tested at a parts store to see if it's good.
Is your alternator belt tight? A loose belt won't let the alternator work to capacity.

Car will not start, not even jumping it

SOUND LIKE A DEAD BATTERY BUT CHECK BATTERY VOLTAGE SHOULD BE 12.6 VOLTS.IF NOT BATTERY DEAD NEED TO BE CHECK AND REPLACE.MAKE SURE BATTERY CABLES TIGHT AND BATTERY CABLES AND BATTERY POST CLEAN FREE FROM CORROSSION.AFTER REPLACING BATTERY MAKE SURE ALTERNATOR IS CHARGING BATTERY. WITH ENGINE IDLING BATTERY VOLTAGE SHOULD READ 13.5 - 14.5 VOLTS. MEANS ALTERNATOR IS CHARGING BATTERY. IF NOT CHECK ALTERNATOR FUSE AND CHECK ALTERNATOR BATTERY FEED WIRE AND VOLTAGE REGULATOR WIRES, MAKE SURE WIRES NOT FRAYED OR BROKEN. IF ALL IS GOOD MAKE SURE ALTERNATOR DRIVE BELT TENSION CORRECT.MAKE DRIVE BELT TENSIONER NOT BROKEN OR DAMAGE CAUSING DRIVE BELT TO SLIP OR CHECK ALTERNATOR CHECK ALTERNATOR PIVOT BOLT MAKE SURE NOT LOOSEN CAUSING TOO MUCH SLACK IN DRIVE BELT CAUSING BELT TO SLIP.WARNING TURN OFF RADIO FIRST BEFORE REMOVING BATTERY CABLES TO REPLACE THE BATTERY BECAUSE IF RADIO WAS LEFT ON WHILE BATTERY WAS DEAD WHEN YOU INSTALL BATTERY CABLES THE POWER SURGE WILL DAMAGE RADIO.

I have an 03 impala...while on my way home my battery light came on and keeps goin on n off...what is the problem????

Either your alternator has gone bad or is about to. Check and make sure your belt is tight if it is then your alternater is about to go out and then once the battery drains you will be dead in the water where ever you stop.

1995 dodge stratus keeps going dead in driveway. I jump it off and let it run 15 mins to charge battery up. Turn off and crank right up, but the next day it is dead again.

With engine running used a voltmeter and check voltage at battery, you will be checking alternator out put voltage, should have a reading of no less then 13.0 volts, if less bad alternator, the reason it keeps going dead is that the car is using the battery to run it .till the battery has no more power, then you jump it and the battery is charge up again and will run again till it goes dead again.

Squeaky belt and battery light on now

+++ been told to fix blue smoke...piston rings gone .

Piston rings, valve seals are a good guess for cause of blue smoke. Engin oil additives for high-mileage engines can help the blue smoke problem... Pep Boys and the like -- many different products -- just make sure it's for stopping smoke, not cleaning engines...

+++ squealin....fan belt gone.

Has the alternator belt been tightened? If not, this could be causing both symptoms: dead battery & squealing

+++ battery light on...alternator gone.

Again, this could just be a loose belt, and most likely is the problem...

Squealing losing power not chargeing batter changed alternator

If the belt is 3 yrs old or older, change it. If it has oil or anti-freeze or grease on it, change it. If new, add more tension to the belt.
