When you droped the trans pan .... there was a magnet in the pan.... you didnt happen to move that did you? if you did metal shavings from wear and tear could get syphoned through the trans . also the magnet could also be blocking the ports for those gears...

SOURCE: brakes won't bleed on a 2001 GMC Z71 four-wheel drive

check your calipers to make sure the bleeder is on the top! If not it will create a pocket of air in the chamber that won't bleed out!

My 92 Lexus LS400 recently lost all forward gears but reverse works just fine.

You can only perform certain tasks yourself on a transmission. In this case it sounds like you need to visit a transmission shop. On occasion cleaning the oil and filter, making sure the trans is upto the correct level on fluid, may resolve an issue. If it does not then you probably need professional assistance.

You shoould visit a good independent rather than a lexus specialist as they will almost certainly charge an arm and leg for labor

GOOD LUCK

88 bronco 2 automatic v6 will sometimes not go in any gear but if I'm lucky it will kick in and go can anyone tell me the problem

the problem was changing that fluid! rarely happen, but it will happen when people change transmission fluid on older car then the car messed up. when you change the fluid you washed all the friction material on the clutch surface by putting in new fluid.

1994 gmc Z71 4x4 automatic.****** will not shift out of 2nd gear. What's up?

Shift modulator on the transmission may be bad, or clogged filter. Maybe time to changed oil and filter. Also a simple adjustment on the trans kickdown cable, or a new cable. The cable can stretch enough to cause a shifting problem.

I have a 97 GMC Sierra 4x4 1500 automatic transmission and it won't shift into reverse it does fine in all other gears. My dad said he looked at it and one of the bands is stretched out, but i asked the...

There is no band for reverse in this transmission and there is no shift solenoid function in reverse. There are a couple things that can cause a no reverse problem.#1 problem with the reverse input clutches such as burned or damaged clutches and/or leaking drum.#2The other most common problem is a stripped reaction shell although you usually loose 2nd and 4th gear when that happens. If you have good neutral, all 4 forward gears and the transmission is full of fluid then I would say that the bearing between the input drum and reverse input drum has failed and there are pieces of bearing stuck in the reverse drum and keeping the clutches from applying. No simple fix here and dont waste your money on fluid and filter or a shift solenoid.Time for an overhaul.Let me know if I can help.

I have a 2005 gmc z71 1500 4x4, the problem is that I have a chatter noise from my rear diff, it happens when I start off and turn, could it be the locker in the diff!

the noise is coming from the clutch plates in the differential, i am assuming that it is posi-trac. and not a limited slip. you can get rid of this noise by draining fluid and replacing with proper differential fluid as recommended by manufacturer (go to gmc dealer parts dept.) also ask for posi-trac additive, use two bottles, the noise will not go away instantly, you will need to drive it for at least 500 mile before you notice change,

Check your transmission fluid while the truck is on, and top it off with some new fluid and a filter. If this doesn't work, it may be time for a transmission rebuild.

The transmission is shifting hard going from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd on my 1998 GMC sierra 1500 4x4 5.7 liter. This does not happen until about 15 to 20 minutes of driving. Before that the...

rec check fluid first. If trans fluid hasn't been changed in last 30,000 miles change fluid, filter and pan gasket. At that time inspect for foreign materials in bottom of pan or on magnet if you have one. If truck has over 100K and fluid was never changed you may have more problems if changing the fluid.
