2001 Buick lesabre sometimes takes a few times to start other times will start right up and other times will start but when put in gear will die if you don't keep your foot on the gas

Could be several thing's . fuel system , ignition system . engine sensor etc... Instead of replacing a lot of parts that don't fix the problem ,take it to a qualified repair shop an have it diagnosed ! Because without testing no one on hear could say for sure it's this part or that part . There are videos on youtube for trouble shooting ignition systems , fuel systems , engine sensors etc... Sensors that could cause this problem , mass air flow , crankshaft position sensor - of which your vehicle has two .

If it makes the sound during idle and you have manual transmission, check the clutch plates, pressure plate and related bearings. If it happens when the car is moving, check driveshafts, wheel bearing and brake pads.

Will turn over and will not start

Lots of things to look at. Engines need fuel, a spark and power to electronic control modules. There are a lot of components in these systems, so it'll take some time to check them all.

My 1995 grand cherokee takes a lot to start. turns over fine, but won't fire. checked fuel rail, no pressure. after trying 15 times or so, it will start and run just fine. starts right back up unl

Your Jeep has what's known as the delayed start, no check engine light problem. The Jeep will not start until the check engine light comes on, on the dashboard. Next time it cranks but will not start, look at the dashboard to see if the check engine light is illuminated. If it's not lit up, then your Jeep does have that problem and your Jeep ecu is in need of repair or replacement. There are components inside the ecu that are going bad and will continue to get worse, eventually leading to a permanent no start condition. There are ecu repair services and replacement ecus on ebay.
