Question about 1994 Cadillac DeVille
I run a code reader on it there,s like 25 codes that come up
Begin with the lowest code number first.
The dash indicator circuit is not controlled by the cruise control module.
Basic checks- make sure diaphragm of control is not ruptured- it might be if you have had a difficult to locate "lean" engine fault code. You can manually apply vacuum to the diaghram to make sure it is not binding.
There is an electrical interlock with the brake pedal- it interupts power to module when brakes are applied. This is located near the pivot. There is also a vacuum dump valve actualted by the brake pedal as well.
If the tilt feature of the steering column is used often, there is a chance wires may have broken over time, or abraided and are shorting out. The steering wheel buttons all have a circular track they contact underneath the steering wheel itself- a brush may have broken, worn away, or accumulated conductive dust from the other brushes.
There is also a magnetic speed sensor which should be located on the same billet transmission insert that the speedometer gear is mounted in- the magnet may have fallen off, lost flux or the hall effect sensor portion failed.- it tests much like a transistor, but the bias to allow current to flow through it is by way of magnetic field.
