SOURCE: need wiring diagram for the ecm on a 94 chevy s10

Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is connected to the throttle shaft on the throttle body. It is a potentiometer with one end connected to 5 volts from the VCM and the other to ground. A third wire is connected to the VCM to measure the voltage from the TPS. As the throttle valve angle is changed (accelerator pedal moved), the output of the TPS also changes. At a closed throttle position, the output of the TPS is low (approximately 0.5 volts). As the throttle valve opens, the output increases so that, at wide-open throttle, the output voltage should be approximately 4.5 volts. By monitoring the output voltage from the TPS, the VCM can determine fuel delivery based on throttle valve angle (driver demand).

What is this and where does it go I found it by my engine in my 78 caprice classic

It is a pressure or a vacuum switch. It is the sort that puts a warning light on if the engine oil pressure or steering hydraulic pressure is low or the brake vacuum is low.

It appears remarkably clean for the first two and if it had dropped out of one of the places where such things are fitted the effects would be immediate. Perhaps it is an old one left behind after a new one has been fitted, resting somewhere inaccessible to the mechanic and finally dropped out to cause confusion and bewilderment.

Such switches are usually marked with the pressure or vacuum values.

So where is the oil pressure cut off switch located on 95 caprice classic

Oil pressure cut off switch ? It doesn't cut anything off , it's purposes is if the fuel pump relay doesn't work ,when the engine reaches 40 psi oil pressure ,contacts close inside supplying voltage to the fuel pump . Think the oil pressure switch keeps the fuel pump running once started. Suggest replacing Oil pressure switch. And no it won't effect oil pressure reading when it goes bad. The switch is a safety device. When you roll it over and the oil pressure drops the switch cuts off the fuel pump. Neat huh? Need some good feedback Thanks!

I have a 94 caprice classic that wil crank but it wont turn on. It just got a new ignition and key for it and it still is doing this problem. it says press key fault and low oil pressure then it shuts off....

You vehicle is equipt with a fail safe switch incase your oil pressure is low it shuts off the fuel pump, More likely your oil pressure switch will need to be replaced, its 2011 relace the oil pressure switch more likely the sensor itself has failed,(oil breaks plastic after awhile,) make sure you have motor oil in the crankcase check the level,

Can't locate oil sending unit on civic

Your vehicle is equipped with an oil pressure switch (not a sending unit) and it is located directly above the oil filter.

Transmission leak 94 caprice classic

If its in the line its self just cut the line in two and take some fuel line hose, the right diameter, slip it over the line with a couple of clamps and that should fix it. Theres not much pressure there and its a cheap fix.

Pass key fault on 94 caprice

NO, check oil pressure module. Bad module (red ligh of check engine on) or a bad cable can interrupt the fuel pump voltage. This is a security to device to induce car to turn off when the oil pressure drop near 0. and to protect the wholee engine
