There are two coolant temp sensors. One by the oil filler tube and one near the bottom radiator hose near the radiator.
When you flushed the coolant did you replace with VW rated G12 coloant? Very Important! - You can't use over the counter coolant - it'll cause sludge in your system. You have to use G12...

bank one will be the cylinders closest to the firewall. sensor two will be located after the catylitic converter,
