Could be a bad gauge, air in the oil line leading to the gauge, if the engine temp was cold enough it could have been an oil filter bypass, in such case this would be normal behavior.

Ituben the last year by 1999 1.8t Passat has had low oil pressure issues. I've had 2 turbos put in ,an oil pump, sending unit,4 engine flushes.pcv breather

Low oil pressure is often an indication that your crank shaft and/or camshaft bearings are worn out (on high mileage cars).

Have you actually measured (with an oil pressure gauge, NOT the oi pressure switch) the oil pressure to verify that you are dealing with actual low pressure, of just a faulty signal (from the oil pressure switch)?

VORTEC 5.3 LOW PRESURE

How low is the oil pressure? Are you determining low pressure by the gauge on the dash? Have you installed an external gauge to effectively record oil pressure? Have you been on top of oil changes?

High oil pressure

First thing is find out if the oi pressure is really high. Remove the oil pressure sending unit and hook up a oil pressure test gauge kit, if the pressure is within normal then replace the sending unit first. (requires a special socket)

I have a 05 F-350 6.0L turbo diesel No start. Replaced FICM. Checked high presure oil pump. Changed all sensors. Am lost. Next step is to put a oil presure Gage on high presure oil pump. System looked...

Check for fuel pressure at the primary fuel filter. there if you move the plug for the fan clutch you can see an auxillary plug on the filter housing facing forward and to the driver side. You should have 40+psi with key on. another way to check the pump is to listen for it to cycle on for 10 seconds or so after key on. Also check for lubricating oil pressure on the cluster gauge and then high pressure oil with a manual gauge. its needs to see around 600psi oil pressure to signal the injectors to fire. best way to check all of these is with a scanner that has data reading, which will also tell you if you have a bad ficm, ecm or sensor connection.

Dealer said oil sensor on ml320 needs replaced. what does this do?

Your engine oil sensor is a pressure switch used to send oil pressure information to the dash, be it an idiot light or gauge. It is a critical part since your engine will seize up if there is low oil pressure. Replace the sensor or have it replaced. Have the engine tested with a handheld gauge. These are available at any auto supply store.

Oil pressure gauge fluctuates from high to low. What could be the cause? Remedy?

Hi. This will indicate that there may be some sludge build up in the block, or the oil pressure switch may be damaged. The more serious issue will be a failing oil pump. To isolate the issue, simply, have a oil pressure test ran on this engine. If the test indicates that the true oil pressure is optimal at idle, kindly replace the oil pressure switch. Now, if the test proves that the pressure is indeed lower than factory specifications, this will confirm that the pump is damaged. Have the pump, and oil pump screen replaced, in this case.

NOTE_ I would, also, recommend to have the engine flushed asap.

Low oil presure

perform a master oil pressure test. this is done by removing the oil pressure sending unit and installing a oil pressure gauge. if the reading on the test gauge is ok, the sending unit needs to be replaced. if the pressure reads low on the test gauge, there may be excessive bearing wear or you may have worn valve guides. good luck!

Oil scencer showing low presure

if your oil pressure gauge is reading low, the sensor, instrument cluster gauge or the pump is bad. remove sensor and use an oil pressure test gauge. reading should be measured and verified against manufactures specs. if the pump is bad, damage to the engine will result.

Oil perssure not steady on 02 ford ranger

Did you check oil pressure with a oil pressure gauge from the oil gallerys in the block. Determine if the oil pressure is adequate. Most likely its probably a bad gauge but if you used a oil pressure gauge and there readings inidictive of low source oil pressure then most likely you have a pump failure, or there is inadequate oil volume in your engine.
