Question about 2000 Lincoln Navigator

Starter will not disengage on 2000 Lincoln navigator

We have changed the starter,alternator,starter solenoid. Checked all the fuses and nothing.

    Thank you for all the help. I just took out the ignition switch and tested it and it was good. I will check all the cables again In the morning. I have worked on this all day and so tired of messing with it!!!

    if your switch was good then you need to look at the solenoid or the starter again. if its a re manufactured starter you may need to shim it, it could be binding up with the flywheel and sticking. you can bench test the starter yourself with a set of jumper cables to see what its doing. but generally unless you got your starter from the wrecking yard it should be ok. either the ignition is telling the starter to keep going or the starter itself is sticking. its not a very complex system. if you have a remote start feature i would recommend pulling the fuse on it just to keep it out of the equation . i now how much of a pain in the **** this stuff can be, just stick in there and youll get it figured out, hope this helps, good luck!

Did you inspect the cabels going from the battery to the starter and maybe you got a bad starter did you have the store test the starter when you bought it

2000 Lincoln Navigator Ignition switch get stuck burning three starter up


The solenoid is stuck... replace the solenoid. It is best to take the entire starter off and take it to a rebuild shop and they will bench test it for you and you'll only pay for what they replace. Oftentimes, it's not the starter that's at fault, but the ignition switch!

I have a 2000 Lincoln navigator and today it wouldn't turn on battery is good it doesn't make any noise when i try turning it on is it the starter or could it be something else


could be the starter solenoid or your battery checks out fine on voltage but does not have enough amperage. you can take both to the auto parts store and have both checked out.
after thought make sure you battery contacts(cable connector) are clean dirty corroded contacts cause amperage loss.

2001 lincoln navigator battery drain


Did you check for B+ voltage at the heavier gage wire on the back of the alternator ? When yor turn the key to run , not start , does the charge indicator light ? When the vehicle is running is that charge light lit or off ? There is a fuse that supplies B+ voltage to it . Fuse # 30 located in the central junction box , it's a 30 amp fuse ! Plus one more fuse located in the battery junction block # 11 20amp . With out B+ voltage at these connections on the alternator it will not charge .

Changed starter solenoide swicth with an after market one, now my 2000 navigator check engine light is on and truck barely moves


have a garage or auto parts store check the code with an analyzer and that will tell you what the problem is

Won't start.


That's possible, but if you have power at the starter solenoid to close the contacts then check to see if the 12 volts are going through it(probe the large wire on both sides of the solenoid for 12 volts) and on to the starter, if this is the case, check for 12 volts at the starter lug where the large power wire hooks to the starter, if you are getting at least 12 volts at the starter lug, I would say you have a failed starter motor.
