If its jus at start up for a few mins that's normal but if it's all the time I would be going back to that dealer and not be so friendly

SOURCE: Voltmeter drops to 9 volts on Chev 454 P30 motorhome

this is eithere a loose positive cable from the altenator to the battery or the regulator in the altenator is about to fail. if you have not had any problems starting the vehicle then most likely its a loose connection between the gauge and the charginging circuit or the gauge is faulty. take a multimeter and test the charging votage at the altenator while the vehicle is running it should measure 13.5 volts and should not change more than .5 volts. if the voltage drops more than 1 volt the regulater is bad and the altenator needs to be replaced. if it is working fine then looke for a bad connection make sure all positive and ground cables are tight. if they are replace amp gauge

SOURCE: Charging system

You have a alternator with a built in regulator and its that is your problem as all alternators 12Volt charge
at 13.5 amps and can run about 12.5 when idleing but as long as it charges around the 14 while driving keep driving till you ger time to get it fixed it will be ok for a few days but get it seen to.

Doom & under dash lights will not turn off

Try this, remove the trim that covers the headlight switch, use a flat tip screwdriver and depress the tangs holding the headlight switch in place, pull the headlight switch toward you along with the wires, unplug the headlight switch from the electrical connection, if the dome light goes out, chances are you have a bad headlight switch. Good luck, Gary

Problem with front headlights always going out. It seems like I replace headlight bulbs every 6 mos. on 2002 VW New Beetle.

Check voltage at battery with engine running with a volt meter. Turn all accessories on and lights rev engine up and see if voltage goes above 14.8, if yes voltage regulator in alternator may be your problem.

Gauge wiring

pull the head light switch and use a 12 volt test light ($5-$6 any parts store) to see which wire dims the test light when u turn the dash light dimmer up and down, that is the wire you need to tap into for guage illumination.
