Its right at the rear of the engine beside the distrubiter it is on the left side has one wire on the top of the switch, real pain to get at as the engine is close to the dash

should be on the drivers side back of motor stuck in the tranny bellhousing at the top held in by either a 10mm bolt or a 12 mm

Oil Pressure Sensor

On the 3.7L and 4.7L engines, the oil pressure switch is located at right front of engine just above the oil filter. On the 5.7L engine, the oil pressure switch is located at right front of engine.

Im having a hard time getting the oil pan off of a 2003 Dodge Durango, 5.9 4wheel drive.


The frame is in the way and you have to lift the engine to remove the pan.
  1. Turn on the Durango and run it for at least 10 minutes, a few times around the block is best. This will get the engine oil up to temperature allowing it to drain better for you.Park the vehicle on a flat, stable surface that gives you enough room to move around under. Jack up the Durango following the directions provided with your jack and jack stands.Open the hood of the Durango and located the engine oil cap, found on the right side of the engine, towards the middle. Remove the cap by twisting it off and set aside, allowing ventilation and pressure release.Climb under the vehicle and located the oil pan. The oil pan is on the underside of the engine, between the car's tires. It is a rectangular shaped pan with a plug located on the end towards the back of the car.Place an oil drip pan under the oil pan and pull the plug by twisting it and pulling it. This will release all oil from the vehicle, draining it into the pan below. Allow the oil to drain until there is nothing left coming out.Use a wrench to loosen the bolts of the oil pan. There are a total of 17 of them located around the edge of the oil pan, connecting it to the frame of the engine. Store safely.Remove the oil pump pickup tube and oil pan gasket, which are connected to the oil pan. You will find these as soon as you drop the oil pan.

    1. Jack up the front of the Dodge Durango, and install a jack stand. Block the rear wheels. Remove the oil plug and let the oil drain into a pan, being sure to remove as much of the old oil as possible.Loosen the bolts holding the oil pan with a socket wrench, and remove the bolts with your fingers. Remove the oil filter, starter motor, cooler lines, oil level sensor, heated oxygen sensor connector and exhaust y-pipe, and then take off the oil pan.Scrape off the old gasket with a thin putty knife, being very careful not to scrape the surface. Be sure all of the old gasket is removed, then wipe the surface with solvent. Spread a bit of oil on the surface to promote adhesion, and apply the new gasket.Replace the oil pan, exhaust y-pipe, heated oxygen sensor connector, oil level sensor, cooler lines and starter motor, and install a new oil filter.Raise the vehicle slightly with the jack and slide out the jack stand before lowering the vehicle and removing the jacks.Fill the engine with the appropriate amount of oil. Check the level with the dipstick to be sure you have the right amount.

The oil sensor monitors oil pressure, if you are certain that the oil pressure is ok, then replace the sensor.
