The center bolt can usually be removed with a 15/16" socket. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using!

Replace the crank sensor on a 1996 buick park ave

you have to remove the serpentine belt then the harmonic balancer to get to the crank sensor. its located behind the balancer then disconnect the electrical plug. when replaced you have to make sure the air gap is set so the balancer blades won`t hit the crank sensor grooves.

92 Park Avenue, I need help replacing the harmonic balancer. I dont have a impact wrench. I just have a 1/2 craftsman and the socket. I cant get the bolt off the harmonic balancer.

About all you can do is brace your ratchet and socket against the frame of the car, or even against a block of wood, and turn the key just a touch, to turn the engine over. You'll have to be careful of the engine rotation direction.

It sounds like a loose nut moving around but when I take the belt off it quits. I can turn all the pulleys easily and they make no noise. Sould it be the harmonic balancer?

No not the balancer. Install the belt and use a pole such as a broom stick or a long handle screwdriver as a stephscope to listen for the noise as the engine runs. Place the screwdriver or stick near each part that has a pully on it. Place your ear at the other end to hear the churning of the internal bearings. If you do hear a load noise in one of the items that is a problem with a bearing or a loose nut to the pulley shaft

I need to chance the crank sensor on a '96 buick park ave. 3800 v-6, what am i going to have to take off to do it ?

Passenger tire, passenger inner well cover, serpentine belt, pulley that attaches to harmonic balancer , nut for harmonic balancer, then harmonic balancer. Sensor is screwed to engine. Disconnect battery prior to and before install of sensor. The 3800 has a special balancer puller designed just for it, not sure were you could rent one it is a specalty tool.
